TBI on 258 and GM distributor question [Archive]

ok, another one:confused:

i currently have the stock distributor on my 258 (1978 motorcraft, electronic ign). i am getting the stuff together for a tbi conversion and have located an early '90s distributor from a chevy 4.3. it is supposedly the distributor for the TBI engine. it appears to have the ignition module under the cap (two female connectors sticking out the side). was wondering if anyone know if this will make it easier to do the rest of the tbi conversion instead of having to modify my stock distributor, and if so, how easy is it going to be to re-wire my msd to work with this? thanks,

For HEI you must use an inline six distributor.
