: Axle noise advice

I just had two axles installed along with the RockKrawler 7" installed on my ZJ. I have put aproximately 1200 miles on this combination. I had some vibrations, that I attributed to the rear driveshaft angle. After about 1000 miles I decided to pull the front shaft (just something to try and get rid of the vibes for the reaminder of the trip home), this did away with most all of the vibrations. I'm not sure if this was due to the front driveshaft angle (the RK kit dropped the t-case, which pointed the front yoke up), or an issue with the axle.

I drove another 100 miles when a low, dry, growling noise started to come from the front axle (High Pinion Dana 30 with 4.56's and an ARB), I limped the Jeep home at ~20MPH. At the lower speeds a cyclic "tinkling" could be heard. There is a slight amount of play in the pinion, but it doesnt seem to be much. I haven't pulled the front diff cover yet.

Is there any advice you can offer of what to look for when pulling the cover?? I have no experience working on axles, so any suggestions are appreciated.

I know, not very hardcore, just a newbie askin' a question...

Thanks,
Nicholaus
