how much heavier is a steel wheel compared to an aluminum? Specifically a 15x12.
Thanks, Chad

Actually some aluminum rims are heavier than steel rims. Aluminum is a bit more than 1/3 the density of steel (.1 lb/in^3 vs .28 lb/in^3) So if an aluminum wheel is 3 times as thick as a steel wheel it will be heavier. Most of the cast aluminum wheels are pretty thick, and heavy. Steel wheels vary in thickness quite a bit too. I run steel wheels.
