I've got a 79 CJ7 with an AMC 304, Ford NP435 and Dana 20. The AA Adapter mounting point for the transmission is a lot higher than the stock.

Looking at the underside of the jeep it looks like I could almost have a flat skid. Does not look like maybe after a new cross member itself without pushing the drive train up anymore I'd have 3/4"-1" hanging down.


What all needs to be addressed, if it is even possible, to mount the cross meber itself by sticking bolts trough the side of the frame? Will it mess up the frame? I want to have a cross member, then a removable skid or access pan covering everything bolted to the bottom of the frame.

Material thickness? Pictures? Examples? Ideas?
