Hoods

Got my Silverado new in HS back in 2000. It's been a good DD. Currently has 130k on the ticker. Short box, regular cab, 4.3/Auto 4x4. Going to start collecting parts to convert it to a streetable weekend wheeler after i buy a commuter car in a year or so. FYI trails around New England are wet, rocky and tight.
I've been trolling the forums here for late-model chevy trail rig pictures and specs as inspiriation, but am coming up short.
I'm thinking waggy 44's (wide enough?) or possibly one-tons. SAS the front with leafs. Shackle flip rear. 36" TSL's. Fender trimmed. Bobbed bed. Sliders & bumpers & some form of cage. Not much concerned with the body, but would like to keep the bed and front clip to keep with the "streetable theme".
Thing is a dog as it is now, so i am not sure if an angine swap is on order? Tranny? T case?
I've built a few Jeeps here and there, but never something this new, or something that needed to look clean/streetable. Yes i can weld, so am not confined to bolt-ons.
Looking for cage ideas. It's pretty tight inside the cab, but i would like to have an internal cage and keep as much of the dash as possible.
Anyone have experiences, pics or specs?
