: Those with open footwells and passengers

Shot up to Holy Cross with the fam over the weekend, and again, I have a passenger complaining about nothing to put their feet on. This time it was my father! Apparently few people trust their belts enough and want to grab tubes and now want something to push against too! Working on handles inside, the foot things got me a bit though.

For the left foot the alum floor has a box to clear the slave cylinder, so the left foot is good. The right, was looking at just a 3x3 dimpled plate sticking out from the down portion of the slider tube, to put your foot on there. Face the dimples inside, so the foot has grip. However this is useless to anyone under ~5'10" :shaking: Coming off the vertical tube for side panel bracing is too far back, and would really wad the 6'7" 260# guy who likes going!

Any better ideas than "quit whining, and hug yourself!" or doing the further foot support, and carry a block of 4x4 wod, and duct tape for an extension?

What about a toe hoop like in a desert car? That way you can rest your feet against it, or hook your toes under it when hauling ass KOH style.

Adjustable kayak footpegs? I like Pat's hoop idea, too.

I was even thinking about putting a tube along the front edge of your floorpan on that side. It would work for me, but not sure about anyone shorter. I wanted one so I could push myself back into the seat after the tree incident...O wait, I wasn't on that side when that happened:D

With how hard you were pushing the GAS pedal, you should have been firmly planted in the seat!

Saw that in the Marlin rig too for the driver. I like it. I'm going to be figuring out how to set one up when I redo my pedals this winter.

So while we're on it, what about handles?

My wife holds onto the harness straps when shit gets sketchy. I thought about a T handle like some guys run but I just have bad visions of getting impaled.

brian the feet thing was a bit to get used to but was fine

except when your tire hit my long legs:laughing:

but the bmx peg would be cool but i wouldn't sacrifice the vision for a foot hold

i wouldn't do grab handles unless it was deffinetly far enough away to not hit a head on

lexan panel?

Im thinking about running a diagnal tube (behind side panels) and welding a " [ " to it. It will allow the hand to fit into it, but not beat up your leg. Kinda like we were talking the other day. Since I don't have the side panel braces in yet, I can put it where it needs to be. I put one on the new cage in the flatty as a "o-shit" handle and it seems to work nice. Thinking about 1/2" -3/4" cold roll. It would also make it easier to hold onto with gloves in the snow.

My real concern now is where do you put the cup holders?

Cup holders are installed. One good one and one marginal one for passenger and driver. Jam said drink (can or 20oz) between the seat and the side panel, about mid thigh area. Gotta love lexan side panels!

I really got to figure how to install the other 1/2 of this engine for KOH though!

:p Makes ya wonder how everyone else fits. Im pretty sure my front axle is the farthest forward, looking at pics. Really thinking the 3x3 ish dimpled plate, with a gusset sticking out. Really would loose much for visibility (trying to get more of that anyway) The peg Im thinking would get slippery when wet or covered in snow!

Thinking handles sticking out from the side and tcase area. I just dont like the loop idea maveric.

Here is a pic of me and the family out testing last weekend.

I think I might have made the floorboards a little too small. Any thoughts on how to improve this??

Actual YJ springs were the start, modified with different leafs, etc. The axle is offset on the center pin a few inches though!
