hey I am currently doing a tbi swap on a 77 chevy 350 engine for my 89 yj , I know there has been various post and I have searched but have not been able to find the answer to the question I have. My question is , will the stock fuel pump from a 90 chevy truck with a 350 and tbi work with my setup in the yj , I know you can find the fuel pumps special at howell and so on but Just curious as to why no one says anything about the stock fuel pumps that the engines were designed to run with. thanks

It will work but is difficult to adapt to your YJ tank
I did a TBI swap on a 83 350, but in a K5 so I was able to swap tanks to a EFI style. I would use the non EFI YJ tank and mount a inline Holley TBI pump. They are rated at the right psi (~13 if I remember right), easy to put in, and they even had a marine version of the same pump. They run Around ~100.00, which is over twice the in tank pump price, but lots easier to change ( I changed three in tank pumps in a year ). The TBI rocked though, so it was worth the trouble.

do i know you?
I have a 350 TBI in my 95 YJ. I put a GM TBI in tank pump in where my stock YJ MPI pump was.....in the sender unit.
I switched pumps because there was concern about my MPI pump putting out more than the internal regulator of the TB unit could handle.
It took some relatively minor modification to the YJ sending unit/pump hanger. I also used the sock for the GM pump. Seems to be working fine.

ya you know me charly , I am jim pulks friend I talked to you about the tbi setup before at your house , and I went to the EMF this year if you have any more tips or info on doing the swap you can email me at dagro4@yahoo.com thanks
The fuel pump in the 2.5L TBI's (87-89) provides sufficient pressure and flow to work with a 350TBI engine. The fuel pump from the 91+ 2.5L & 4.0L's provide sufficient pressure and flow to work with 350TPI setups.
For your info... a 1989 Jeep YJ 2.5L Fuel Pump provides 14-15 PSI at a flow of 40GPH. 1987 GM 350 TBI Fuel Pump provides 9-13 PSI at a flow of 35GPH. The excess pressure and resultant fuel flow will run off into the tank via the return line. This is the setup I am using.

my 89 wrangler had a 258 in it and it had the mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block , so any way I look at it I need to get a new fuel pump but thanks for the info
Maybe you could find someone will to trade, or possible find a used sending unit, with TBI fuel pump. Install that and you'd be all set to go. I believe the tank design is the same, ie the opening...
