Alright here's the deal, i've got fullsize Ford D60s f/r. I want to use hummer wheels but don't want to lose my track width and don't want to mess with my steering. What's the best way to go? The solutions i can think of are to use dually hubs, wheel spacers, or custom centers in the wheels. However, i've been quoted between 200-250 per wheel with new centers, i know wheel spacers are expensive, and i've never even seen a ford dually hub, not to mention i'd like to go 35 spline outers eventually. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve

i don't think the pic will help. right now i'm at 84" wide. I believe my wheels have about 4.5" backspacing (16.5 black rock crawlers, anyone know?). If i just slapped on the Hummer wheels that would bring me down to 79", not to mention i would have serious clearence issues.

Weld in new wheel centers to give you the 4-4.5" back spacing you want and then cut out the old wheel center. I sell new wheel centers as do a few others on the board. The going price is $50 per center.

yeah but like i said, the $100 wheel, plus the $50 center is 150 right there. Then i don't really trust myself to do the cutting and welding on something like that and the least i've been quoted to do it is another 50 so now we're at 200 before shipping. I'm just thinking there has to be a better way.

I think the operative statement is that you want to go to 35 spline outer in the future. On a Ford front end this needs chevy outer spindles, hubs, knuckles, 35spline chevy outers and 35 spline lockouts or slugs for a bolt on affair. You could find dually chevy stuff and gain the clearance, but then you have to space out the rear. I have heard of wide (~74 wms) 35spline D60s under motorhomes that should be about right. The rear that width with 35 spline would also be hard to find.
Just some thoughts HTH

just run them backwards. thats free nd it gives 7.5 inches and really protects the hubs. thats what i do anyway.

hmm, never even thought of that. That would make me 5" wider though...not a bad idea at all. Have any pics? Is there any reason not to do this?

Sounds like he wants to stay the same width to me, not narower.
I'm also interested in learning more about running the hummer wheels backwards.
if memory serves the wheels are 9.75 in wide?? and have 7.5 in of backspacing, so if you ran them backwards it would have 2.25 in. of backspacing....that wouldn't make too much of a difference on mine going from a 15x10 with 3 in. of backspacing.
Anyone think there might be any issues with stress on the wheel with that little backspacing, considering it was ment to be run with 7.5 in. bs??

Ford dually hubs were offered from '86 on. They are difficult to find but not impossible. That's how I'm doing my Ford 60. I'm using spacers in the rear. The dually hub has 4" more offset than the single wheel hub. The 4" spacers for the rear are very expensive. I found a set on a dana 44 in a salvage yard that someone converted to fit dual wheels.
35 spline stub shafts are possible in a Ford front but you have to cut the Chevy shafts down and machine a new snap ring groove in them. You also loose a little spline area.
As to the $100 for rims. I have a source that sells brand new radial 2 piece rims for $85 each including the Orings. It does not include the nuts or the valve stems. If interested send me an email or PM.
