Hi,
I'm in the process of putting my 14 bolt back together. I can't remember which way the outer bearing faced...

Does the Taper go inwards like a front hub so it will just fall off when you remove the nut... or does it go outwards requiring you to put it in before the inner bearing?

it goes from outside in...
Taper roller (cone)
Bearing cup
big honkin snap ring
then the inner cup/cone and seal

on the 14 bolt the big honkin snap ring is critical to keeping the wheel on....

I'm trying to figure out what way the outer bearing(specifically) faces. I know the order of assembly...

I believe it would face inward toward the tubes on each side, if that makes since, If I was there I could show you, kinda hard to type it you know, hope that helps.:p

the bearings on the 14 bolt face opposite of each other...just like every other full float front or rear axle
The only difference is on the 14 bolt hub you have to put the outer bearing in behind the snap ring ( so it stays captured in there) unlike a Dana 60 FF rear where the outer bearing cone goes in after the hub is on the spindle.
