So just wondering, whats the best method to measure what your link length should be?, im parting together a 4 in. lift for my cherokee, and part of the being on the cheap side means fabbing my own links and so on. so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

i like to keep the link itself around 40"
46ish overall with heims and/or bushing

lol well thats cool, but im really trying to figre out how you came up with those numbers. im really trying to avoid the ''well that looks good enough to me'' approach

Thats basically how it goes.... i set my axle at intended ride height and centered in the wheel wells and start taking measurements and stuff..... ain't no fixed lengths to anything.

it's either that or the "what looks best to someone else" approach. just put your axle where you want it and break out the tape measure.

it was late ,what did i write again?
that length is for the lowers,an average length for two reasons;1. any shorter and there's a loss of flex and oversteer issues.2.any longer and the links are more vulnerable to bendage.
the uppers usually are 10" shorter than the lowers.
this is a rough guide i like to believe in......:D

depending on what wheelbase you are running

depending on what wheelbase you are running
X2 and after you figure out what wheelbase you want then figure out what the longest you can run for what your frame and triangulation angles will allow.
My lowers are 42 and my uppers are right around 35

Same here, 42" lowers, and 35" upper.

Just another note. IF yorue using a 4 link calc like the one on here. the distance isnt the length of the link. Its still the distance from the mount points ina straight line vs the angle of the links. so your distances will not always be = to the length of your link. a 42" link at a 22.5* angle will be shorter than 42".

just something to chime in on, if the lower are longer won't it start pushing the axle forward when it goes up? I had some people tell me stick with same length for upper and lower to get minimum in and out movement...

my uppers and lowers are roughly the same length, both around 44". i dont like the way the pinion tips down with the uppers 75% of the lowers.
