My neighbor has a '97 Ford CC Dually w/ Powerstroke and E4OD transmission. He asked me to help put a set of gauges in, but I can't figure out where the factory temp sending unit is for the transmission.

Where should I be looking? It's obviously not in the pan, and I didn't see it on any of the transmission lines but didn't have much time to really look.

there isn't one, you'll need to buy one to run a gauge

There isn't a factory one, but there is an 1/8" NPT plug on the driver's side to put an aftermarket sending unit in. Behind the bellhousing, about midheight on the trans if memory serves correctly.

Thanks, I'll check that out tonight. We have the sender that came with the gauge, just couldn't figure out where to put it.

I think there is a temp-sensor internal to the transmission itself, but that would only help if you used a gauge that ran off the OBDII connector.

Correct it is integrated into the solenoid pack. If he wants aftermarket gauges then use the pressure port on the DS of the transmission
