So I got 2 things that are messed up on my 94YJ 5spd 4.0

first off I recently changed my O2 sensor, about a month ago, and everything worked fine. I recently (this weekend) put a SYE on and today was the first time the jeep has been driven in a week and after 5 min my check engine light comes on and I can smell the engine running rich.

So I think I got a bad O2? im gonna look into that unless ya'll think its something else.

Now my other problem is with the springs. I bought these 4" lift springs from a friend that was parting out his old YJ. They were supposed to be soft springs but the jeep rides like straight carp. It doesnt bother me too awfully bad but it physically hurts my Girlfriend :shaking:... I might as well weld the axles to the frame and it might smooth out the ride lol

So my question is, who else has a lifted YJ, preferably SUA, and how does it ride? what springs are you running? how can i smooth out this ride?

Thanks in advance!
Joe

4" SUA is really stiff. I was running 4.5 Rubicons in the front. Did a SOA. Anything over 3.5 is going to run stiff. You could change out some individual leafs for flatter/softer ones and see what you can get. Remove the front and rear track bars, and install 1" lift shackles(NO MORE THEN ONE INCH!). This will smooth it out ALOT! The track bars resist movement and the slightly longer shackles allow the springs to move more. It makes a world of difference

As for the running rich, make sure the vacumn line from the motor is connected to the MAP. I don't see why a O-2 would go bad in that short of time. Since you have the light on, hook up to a scanner and see what code you have. A chilton's book has all the codes. When mine was running rich, I forgot to connect the vacumn line to the MAP and I could barely breath while driving. I really got a slight case of Carbon Monoxide poisoning that day:homer:

Yeah I already took out the track bars and sway bar (but im gtting longer links), no change on ride quality. I was looking at the Superlift 3.5 light rate springs ($260), the tech guy claims that they ride about like stock springs do. Any one got some experience with superlift stuff?

And I like the 1 inch shackle idea, I may couple that with these 3.5 springs

so all the wires are plugged in and the jeep is still running richer than bill gates. I drove it alot last night and the check engine light never came on. also how do I read the codes on this thing. Even the dealer doesnt have the right code reader.

Also the speedometer is not working. I installed the proper gear with the SYE and plugged everything back in and I'm not getting squat on the speedo.

The speedo not working is not that big of a deal. The only thing you will get is the jeep will die coming from moderate RPM driving to a full stop. I just blip my throttle at 1K rpm to keep it running. My speedo quit when I did my SYE as well(7 years ago). I just live with it.

As for running rich, I am leaning to the O-2 sensor which doesn't make sense if it went out just newly installed? I bought my O-2 unit through www.RockAuto.com I bought the Bosch unit. No problems to this day.

You can get a OBD1 reader at checker/kragen. Check out ebay as well. If you have a chilton's, it takes you through the steps. Go find another dealer and see if they got the correct reader. It seems like the quality of costumer service from large corporate companies has just really gone down the shitter these days:shaking:

I know right??? I think the O2 I put in was a Bosch too... idk i guess it might could be a lemon.

and the speedo, I will miss it lol, this jeep is my DD... Oh well

I'll check ebay for an obd1. Thanks
