What would be the smallest Honda generator
that could be used to power a Lincoln 135
115 volt mig welder ?????

Buy a portable stick welder/generator!

2 20 amp 120 circuits and 1 30 amp 240 circuit; It'll burn 3/4" plate with a 1/8" 7018 rod like nothing. $2400 Canadian with electric start and it weighs 200 pounds. Perfect for a generator while camping and fixing trail breakage. I use mine as a personal welder and leave it in the garage when I'm not out weeling.

I already have the mig welder and have
access to a Honda generator. not sure
what size it is.
I wanted to find out what size is needed
to run a mig.
Something to use for trail repair, run the
blender with.

Maybe I'm over simplifying, but doesn't the welder have a wattage rating? If not, multiply the amp by the source voltage (ie if it's a 110 V welder, and requires a 20 amp circuit, then you need 20 X 110 = 2200 watts. Or just get a damn big generator, and you shouldn't have to worry about it.

You will need a generator that runs at a constant output speed. Mig welders do not work well with a generator that needs to rev up to speed, it will ruin the welder.

HarleyM's on it. I've seen people with gen's that didn't do the constant speed have someone hold the throttle wide open while they were welding. It will damage the welder otherwise, i think it's cause it takes such a surge of power to initially start a weld.
