I have a 02 X 4WD and I'm having problems with rubbing. I recently put a set of 16x8 with 3.625 BS on my 265/70/16. It is rubbing when I turn sharp left or right and it rubs like crazy when I'm backing up and turning.

I've decided on a body lift for sure, but I'm not which one, the 2" or 3"???

I'm not planning on running larger tires, I'm sticking to my 265/70/16. I'm just looking to solve my rubbing problem.

Which one should I go with??? I don't mind trimming the plastic a little bit, but I don't want to hack shit away.

What do you guys recommend???

the 2in will give you the clearance you need. i have it on my fronty and i didnt have to do any extending of anything. i just took the lower fan shroud off and the gas filler streached enough. here is a good write up on the 2in on an x!

Did you have to do any trimming to the plastic or metal where the 4WD shifter is, to engage 4LO??? Mine is an 02 MT, do you think I will need to trim mine??? I don't mind trimming the metal, but I don't want to have to trim the plastic.

Some people have to trim, others do not. I have a 04 manual trans, and I did not have to do any trimming for the tcase shifter. (2" bl)

Even with the 2" BL, those rims may rub on full lock, due to the backspacing though...

You mean with the wheels fully turned they will still rub? What if I do a little trimming to the inside plastic piece?

with a body lift you have less likeliness to rub than with a sl

It's possible, but I wouldn't worry too much. If they rub after the BL, just trim as necessary. What backspacing are those rims?

3.625 with -20mm offset.

I didn't know what the backspacing was when I got them from a local tire shop. They just told me they might rub a little because I went from a 16x7 to a 16x8. And that if they did rub I could just tighten the T-bars for the extra clearance. I never did tighten the T-bars because I wasn't sure how/what kind of damage it would cause on my suspension and steering parts.

What damage does it cause? If any?

I did some looking online and found that they were 3.625 BS with -20mm offset based on the part # I have on the wheel box. I really like the wheels and that is the closest I can get to the stock 5.5 BS wheels :mad3:
