Anyone have a rec. for an oil pan similar to this without the $$ ripping? Need a rear sump and trying to find a flatish front section to eliminate the stock "double hump" deal on the 5.0. The flat front would aid in exhaust and link fitment etc.... The rear is 9" deep, the flat front section is 4" deep. The distance from firewall/back end of pan to where it steps up is 9.5".
TIA

I doubt that pan is going to buy you too much in the front over a stock pan. It has to come down low in the front for the simple fact that the oil pump is there, right below the distributor. If you're looking for cheap, you can reshape the front of the stock pan a bit. It'll only go so far though until it hits the oil pump.

its been a LONG time....but I think the van oilpan had the flater bottom...
yup...
The first consideration is the oil pan on your engine. Ford engines of the 1960's and 1970's generally used front sump oil pans. These will not fit the Ranger/Bronco II chassis properly. Instead, a rear sump or dual sump oil pan must be used. Rear sump oil pans are originally used on full-sized trucks and Econoline vans and hold 6 quarts of oil. They are the preferred oil pan as the extra quart of oil is of somewhat of an advantage for performance and off-road applications

That Moroso pan from Jegs is for an external oil pump. If you are using a dizzy driven pump you will need the Econoline pan or a factory 5.0 mustang pan. The mustang pan only hangs down about 2 inches and may work for you.

Yeah, it's flat, but it doesn't have near the clearance that a fox-body pan has. The difference is that the van/truck pan didn't have to rise up and over a cross member. It starts as low in the front as a Mustang, but then just has a gradual taper down towards the rear sump.

Ah, I didn't notice that. So it would buy some clearance, but at the cost of an external oil pump. That would take one hell of a budget!

I think i got mine from Summit Racing. I put a 302 in my Jeep, i used a Ford Racing pan for a Mustang 5.0. BTW it comes with a pick up tube.
