i think im in need of a new fan clutch but when i look up the info on it, it gives me 2, one is standard rotation and the other is reverse rotation. idk which one i need. i call the dealer and they just told me they have no idea but they just have one for my jeep but they want twice as much any ideas?

We have no way of knowing either unless you provide what year and model of Jeep you are working on:laughing:.
If it is a 2000 or up TJ this is what you need, get the fan clutch and the 7-blade fan as well.
fan clutch: 05066177AA
7-blade fan: 55037650AA
If it's a YJ I don't know if they'll work but you could ask if they would be the same bolt pattern and rotation. If they are, then get them.

By standard they mean clockwise and by reverse they mean counter-clockwise. Simply face the engine and have someone else bump the starter to determine which direction the fan turns. I have an '89 yj with the 6 cyl. and it's ccw.

WOW, for that price buy 2 or 3.
You'll need'm. Not to knock Summit OR Jegs, but some of the stuff they sell is just like buying at Walmart. "you get what you pay for." try looking into a Haden, unit. Cheap fan clutches will engage at different times and will fail premature if you load it up more often than it would be used to. The I6's run hot enough as it is, a cheapo fan could just make your problem worse and be a waste of money. (and more time down the road to fix it right.)JMO

Have you thought about an electric fan? I recently put one on mine and it really woke the motor up. Just a thought.

I had to make mine a pusher instead of a puller, by mounting on the front of the radiator, I installed a 180 deg. t-stat and it works great even on these hot 100 deg temps in Chico. There wasn't room behind the radiator.
