: 35x12.5"/17 BFG Mud on a 17x8" wheel?

is 17x8" too narrow for that tire? There are some wheels I really like but that's as wide as they go.

no that's what width you want with that width tire. I use 8" beadlocks = 8.5 +- with 38.5 X 15.5's they work fine

Saw that tire cut this weekend. Sidewall looks a little thin.
