I havent checked if the caps are aluminum, no problem we have a TIG at the school. Anyone done this themselves? Is the V6 pump and box fine for hydro assist??? Thanks

Here's a good tech article. (http://www.wildyoats.com/hydraulic_assist_tech.htm)

I just did as the Wildoats article says. On my V6, yours to probably. They have the centering pin. When you undo it there is an o-ring on the bottom, so it won't just fall out. I used two screwdrivers to gently pry up by the threads. I also slid a small drill bit into the top passage for a stop, so I knew I had drilled into it.

So what kind of bore/stroke ram are you people using on Toy axles for hydro assist? I have one floating here aorund the shop, just not sure if it will work for the Toy axle....

1.5" x 6" here. If it's going on an axle that doesn't have high steer, you'll need closer to 8" stroke.

2" bore should work OK too, just might slow down your steering response a bit. Since it's a free ram, you can always try it and swap it for something else later.

My thoughts exactly... if it works - good... If not, oh well ;)

for some info that may make the steering faster with the larger ram. Also I talked to a few guys at a company here in town that repairs hydro rams and they said with the larger ram and more flow you don't need as mush pressure to move the ram. So with the 2" ram you will need less pressure but more flow than needed with the 1.5" ram. A good pressure is 1200psi or so. I had stopped to ask about the cost of a 1.5" ram. They said a 1.5' ram from a Case loader would work and the cost new would be around $250 or more. When I told them Rockstomper had a kit with the 1.5" ram, hoses and brackets for around $195, they said it was a good deal.
