I got a problem I never thought I'd have, I can't get the light to come on! From what I can tell in the wiring diagram for my 88' the brown wire from the green plug goes to a light and then on to acc.

My light should be on since I don't have the speed sensor or the neatural sensing switch even hooked up yet!

Related problem is the plug for a code reader doesn't give anything..

Engine runs great, but I need to smog it so I gotta work out these issues. :(

Are you sure it's supposed to have one? My '87 Mustang doesn't have one. There's a spot in the dash for one all right, but as far as I know it's blank. I know it's never come on, even when my MAP sensor quit and it was barely running.

Don't know if it helps but my '89 Mustang did have one and when my barometric pressure sensor went out I let me know it.

My wiring diagram shows the light only for the four banger, ford puts all the same harnesses in the cars and just uses what they need. I spent hours chasing the wires for the check engine light in my harness only to find out they are for the 4 cylinder.

any EFI engine has to have a check engine light..

that is the first thing the ref is gonna look for.

Thanks, someone suggested unhooking the MA sensor since that will set it off - I'll have to try that, maybe my code reader is a defect or something but I'd like to know the light works
