I guess if you have to ask... It ISN'T.

Oh well... Here goes, anyway.

I wired up my electric fan w/ a wiring kit I got @ the local parts store. It's got a preset thermo, relay, etc.

Well, a red wire goes to the battery's +.

A yellow wire goes to a key activated power source.

And, yet another wire, the instructions say, can be hooked up to a manual override switch.

My question(s) is(are): there's only one wire that they say goes to a switch. How should I hook that up? replace the red one w/ this one? or the yellow? What's up w/ all the power leads, man... This is freakin' me out!!

I doubt that is an override, I would be willing to be if you hook it up to the lead going to your AC compressor the fan will come on when either the coolant temp is there or the AC compressor is running.

Most overeride switches I have installed where placed on the Yellow lead between the fans relay and the ignition power source. That way it switch in the cab prevents the current coming from the ignition side, this won't totally work for you as the fan would still come on with the AC. Just blow off the other wire and put a switch in the yellow lead.

The destructions do say that the lead in question can be run to the AC (like you said) or used as an override.

I was thinking along your same lines though... switch the yellow lead from the ignition source.

Let this be a lesson to you:
Never read the instructions.

Thanks, FREAK!!
