Anyone run these? Are they even available? First three online dealers I check don't even list them, but they're up on MT's website...

and how do they measure against the rating? Are they actually 38" tall? I know the 35s are closer to 33...

I want to know also. Need to buy a set soon and those are worth a good close look for the type of stuff we have here.

Isn't that exact same size available in 16"? Would seem a better way to go than 16.5.

If I didn't already have my hummer rims/beadlocks, I'd agree.

Or even the new 37s on 17" rims

Get that eternal project on the trails, Mo :flipoff2:... If you ever need a hand, let me know, I'd be willing to drive the 4 hours to help out. Hell I'd even be kind enough to not charge you for my XJ removal service :D

bah! tell me about it. I need this thing running.

anyway, there's a guy interested in the XJ who happens to work for MT. asked if I'd be interested in trading for some tires/rims. I said some tires and some cash... :D

I may just take you up on that offer to help with wrenching. I'll buy beer, put you up for a night and we can waste a weekend in the garage. You know how to weld?

and it's only a bit more than 2 hours to downtown 'burg IIRC

Yes I run that tire in a 15" vertion and absolutly LOVE them. They actually measured larger than what they said at 25 PSI when they were brand new on a set of 15 x 10 MRT beadlocks they measured 39.5 x 17. that was measured off the vehicle on the shop floor with straight edges.
I like them better than any other tire i've run on my Heep with the 38.5 SX in a close second. I've run 35 kelly Safari's, 36 ground hawgs, 15x35x15 tsl's, 39,5 boggers, 38.5 SX's and now the claws.
the onlything that they don't do great at is the mud. they just don't have a void like a bogger, but then again what does, right:rolleyes: Hell i don't do much mud anyway and they still do a fair job with enough skinny pedal.

Call Lisa at my shop and she can probably get them for you.

Wow that might be the tire I am looking for. Its good to see a 16" tire in a decent size. I am going to chek on a price on these tomorrow. With the 16" I wont even have to grind on the calipers.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Matt.

Just traded my former daily driver XJ for 8 of them in 16.5".

Anyone need 4?

hey Lloyd, where is Jemez Springs, NM... i am over here in Lubbock, TX.. got any good wheelin' in your area...and no, they are mine.... however i did just get my 39.5x18x16.5 boogers in for the rear and my 39.5 TSL's for the front... :D

Jemez Springs is about an hour NW of Albuquerque; like halfway between there and Farmington. I'm up in the mountains (home is ~8200 ft) about 20 miles West of Los Alamos. Yup, good wheeling here. Around home is lots of old overgrown logging roads; trees, roots, rocks, etc. A couple hours to Farmington; couple hours more to Las Cruces. An hour or so to Abiquiu, and some unique sandstone; hidden, hard-assed trails. South of Albuquerque there's sand, some trails into the Ladrones that look a lot like Johnson Valley. Not a lot of mud, but basically everything else available in a short range. Look at the ColoradoK5 site for a writeup on Powerhouse Road; I've known about this one for years but they say it's "new." I just hope the new publicity doesn't get it all f**ked up.

Yeah, and tell me more about those tires. I assume they're 16.5's. Pretty new?

i didnt realize there was that much to run up there..we have a summer cabin up in Red River...nothin up there a stocker wont handle..i did see the powerhouse trail, would like to hit it sometime...looks like a group of us tx boys are coming up into your neck of the woods the first of october...looking to hit the montrose area and then back down to farmington...would love to have a native run with us... lets keep in touch...
Do they still have the forests closed up there or have yall had enough ran that they have lifted the bans

Maybe by October I'll have this thing running again! It'd be great to get to Montrose, and there's a lot around Farmington I've not seen yet. It'd really be good to meet some of you guys and wheel; definitely got to keep that in mind. I've hunted elk around Red River; didn't see that much to wheel there, but did see a couple of stock rigs try to drive up the mountain in deep snow once. Not sure how/if they got out. Beautiful area.

There's a handful of P4x4 board members that work at Los Alamos; a few more that wheel but don't hit the boards. Some of the local trails got rearranged pretty severely following the Cerro Grande fire and flash floods that followed it. I've only heard of one guy that's successfully run Guaje Canyon after - and since then he's rolled his XJ hard and parted it out (now building a CJ-7).
Forests are open now. Our usual July monsoon helped some, but it was pretty weak this year (and last year too). Actually the Jemez is more challenging for a bike than a 4x4; there are some good spots for a truck, but more trials-type motorcycle trails. A well-equipped and competently driven rig could make the old road into Bland from the top, but the residents there hate intruders and keep everything fenced off, so you'd have to turn around and drive back up. I've wanted to hit Albemarle for years but something always gets in the way.
