I have been wheeling a K5 with this setup and 1-tons for the last 8 years or so and the body is now trashed. (Not really my doing) I have been thinking lately of putting all this in a pre-smog cruiser. (I have a few I'm looking at) Question is rear D-shaft. K5 is 106.5 WB, LC is 90" WB and my setup is 47" long after the 350 block, or to put it another way 24.5" long after the 700r4 mounting flange. I would be installing the 1-tons as well so I would also have to account for the 1.5-3" longer pinion on the 14FF as well. (I assume it is longer than the LC pinion) My rear D-shaft now is 32.5" long from highangle Driveline, I would have to try to cut it down to around 16" long! Is this long enough in a LC to allow a lift high enough to clear 37-38.5 " tires without relocating the axle to the rear?
Thanks.

no f'ing way. even with a th700 and stock cruiser case and stock axles with a mild lift you end up with a super short rear driveline.
so you're gonna have to stretch the wb considerably........

I've gat a 4.3, 4l60e, np-205 pushed as far foward as possible and still hane a short rear shaft. The 350 is even 2 cylinders longer, add a doubler and its a no go.

I had cady big block, TH400, NP203, and FJ tcase mocked up in my FJ40(roughly same length). Even with the rear springs flipped, I had one inch of tube left in my driveshaft and an angle of like 30 to 40 degrees.
Now I've got an extra cab 45 project... I've added on 20 inch of wheelbase to make it work.:shaking:

My rear driveline is 17" with a speedoless atlas, HP 60 rear, stretched wheelbase and GM short adapter

Thanks folks, may have to sell my doubler and go atlas after the 700r4 or manual plus atlas.
