So i got this 82 Ford f 100 SWB 4wd for free. Dont know what motor was in it cuz i gave it to a buddy of mine who needed it for his truck. SO i got this transmisson and t case. I think its a C6 but not sure. It is the original motor tranny and t case in the truck. The tcase is a 208 with an 82 manufacture date on the tag. The transmission has 17 bolts on the pan. here is a pic or two, sorry its real dirty and got sand all over it cuz i drug the truck out of a river....

My guess is its a c-4 if its a small block and if its a big block its a c-6

Edit: the 300 six also used the c-4

Looks like a C6, as far as I know the only 4x4 application for a C4 was in the 73' to 77' Bronco's. C4's also have a seperate bell housing that unbolts from the main transmission section.

nope. Thats a C6.

C4s had removeable bellhousings just like manual trannys.

C6 has a S shape in the pan with 17 bolts.
The C4 has a square pan 11 bolts, and the big the bellhousing.
FMX rectangular pan 13 bolts

definatly a c6

okay, a 4.0 in a ranger or mazda truck can accept the v8-- c4,c6 transmissions right??
If so: do you need an auto flexplate for the 4.0 then what torque converter???

um no and no:laughing::laughing:
4.0 can use a C5 tranny with the 2.8 bell housing that can be swaped onto a c4 tranny .
