I have posted before about my 88 troop. But my wife also has a 96 Trooper. Auto tranny. this is a great truck, but we had the trans rebuilt about a year ago, never seemed right after that. but it shifts really hard. When climbing and rpms are hi, the shift to 3rd or 2nd is hard, really throws you back. What's the Deal with these tranny's? Any shift point on this is tough. Anyone with some info. is this thing gonna die on me anytime soon. And is there a better, cheaper swap for this truck.

GM 4L30E
i guess there is a pretty wide range of quality in "re-building" ....i here lots of complaints about auto trans re-builds....... all across the board on all types of makes.

Is that the tranny to swap with, GM 4L30E.
I have a 96 rodeo that is now haveing some major problems, crap, reverse is diying, gets hot, ya know all the basic signs that she is gettin ready to freakin die on me. I run dana 44's front & rear on 35's with 4.88's what would be the best swap.

that is the trans
swap in a low mile junkyard one...put a big cooler on it w/ a fan and run a temp guage on it to moniter what's up.
major issue with those is no dipstick so people run them low on fluid or run them hot (or both) and they die.

Thanks I know about the no dip stick in it, I have lots of fun with the local jiffy lube when they atempt to ck the trans, I do make sure that it is full. I started sliping reverse on the rubicon, so now it is starting to die!!!!
