I have a friend that has front and rear ARB's and 3.54's in his 44's but wants to go to 4.88's. So can you just change out the case, 1/2 of the case or are the high gear ARB's different on the inside so changing the case isn't going to work.?

I think only Gear Man will know the answer to that one.

it is 3.92 and up so you have to change the whole case. both halves or the cheap way use spacers maybe front but i wouldnt on the rear

if arb would sell you the case then yea you can swap it but they are not usally that helpful you could get a thick 4.56 gear out of a rodeo rear end and it will fit on his 3.54 carrier almost 4.88

I would agree that for the rear I wouldn't use a spacer since this Jeep gets driven quite abit. Thanks Gearman. I will send you a PM for a quote on all the stuff we will need.
I was trying to do a similar thing with a D44 Detroit. I called Tractech and they wanted $450 for just the case. I decided to sell the Detroit and get a different case. Bummer.
