: F-350 Powerstroke and goodies into a SII
YellowIH 07-31-2002, 12:01 PM Found a wrecked 1997 F-350 for sale by a freind....all the body and cab have been trashed...frame's warped badly...driveline looks good and it "can" be driven. Nothing seems bent or destroyed....motor runs good and the manual tranny shifts well....Driveline seems intact. If I buy the truck I get a D60 front, 10.25 rear...powerstroke and all its goodies...tranny and t-case.
Cab, body, and frame have been crushed about the drivetrain...radiator is intact and intercooler too....
Anybody did this swap or know someone who has? I'm going to drop it all in the SII. These parts are coming cheap and the truck only had about 50,000 miles on it...sweeeeet deal....
Flame on...

JUST DO IT!!! hell yeah, that'd be AWSOME!!!!
tsm1mt 07-31-2002, 01:34 PM If it's a PowerStroke, you're in for some fun, since the engine is all computer controlled direct injection.. just means you have more computer crap (you DID say it's a stick, right? 'cuz the computer controls the slushbox, too).
It's going to be heavy.. but it's do-able. Erick Foor had a 6.9 in his Scout II.
Personally, I think the PS would go much nicer in my Travelette.. they even moved the motor back in '74 to better accomodate the 404/444 block (444 = 7.3), I already have the 4k-lbs front end (though a live-axle F350 D60 would be nice..)..

TERRA-IZER 07-31-2002, 02:31 PM Tsm1mt, its Eric Stude who has a 6.9 diesel in his 76 scout 2 and it weighs 6500LBS with the 6.9, t-19, dana 20, NP205, dana 60's and 38's. He loves the diesel but has gone through alot of adapters and dana 20 outputs do to the torque. His fornt springs have about 10 leaves in them to hold the wieght. Erics truck has been retired, his new truck thats he's building now is going to have a 4B Cummins.

D'oh. I should've gotten more sleep last night.. that's the Eric I was thinking of. :)
Glad I'm not the only one wasting Dana 20s and output adapters.
But then, he's running dual'd 'cases.

unless it's an aftermarket, 97's didn't have intercoolers from the factory
Joe V 07-31-2002, 06:36 PM Dude,
I wouldn't waste all the power on a Scout, I'd put it all into a gas powered Crew Cab IH Pickup for the killer tow rig.
Like Mikey's

or kinda what Tom said - a Travelette

That would be WAY cool!:)
IH Scout II 07-31-2002, 09:51 PM If it has an inter cooler, where would you put that? Been pondering the same things.... I know, mount it on the roof, and make a snorkel system.... As mentioned before, it is computer controlled... ALL OF IT>>>>>> We just stoked up my buds 2002 with the,,,, It think its hyperteck,,, Hand held re-programmer. The manual trans option does not see allot of boost, but it does open up RPM limiter and open injectors a bit, to make little more power. The auto gets different shift points that is the one who feels the big benefits...
If there is a will, there is a way.... He is getting 13-15 mpg. But carries a good 10,000 lbs in tools,,, Commercial truck repair guy, MOBILE>..
