: Extending a trailer

Thinking of keeping my car trailer, and just extending it a couple feet. From what I have read, there should be a 60/40 ratio for weight on each side of the trailer.

Anyone ever done this type of fab and how did it go? Since the trailer frame is 'C' channel, my thought was to add a 2' section of channel and brace it both inside and out. Do this to all four channels, then add a section of channel across the back to finish the conversion.

Pictures of what you have would help.

But there's nothing wrong with your idea. As long as you can keep the trailer balance, it doesn't matter were the axles are, its all about the load.

nobody replied because mechanos just got through doing a very detailed thread on the exact subject. (http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=612992&highlight=trailer+extend)

Thanks. I tried searching under extending a trailer and lengthening. Didn't think about using the word stretching. Appreciate the link to the thread however, instead of just telling me to search.
