i know this is proubly a newbie question but i would like advice and tips from more experience people. i have 350, but a 305 block with a rod knock but a slite one. i want a complete 350(stock) then work my way on it with mods. so eveything else on this engine besides the block(305)has less then 10,000 miles(new motor). but i decided to give it a rodknock...stupid me,anyways i am looking for a stock 350 block, and was going to do a rebuild kit so i can have a true 350. besides the block, when the rest of my engine has less then 10,000 like way less what do i need to do to make this dream come true.thnx

So you have a 350 block already, or you need one, or you think you can bore a 305 out to a 4" bore? I'm confused what you're asking here.

well, you have a crankshaft that needs to be turned.... a set of rods that needs to be resized...
a set of seriously inferior heads, at least over 4500 rpm.
you have an intake, a distributor, a water pump, oil pan and some brackets.
other than that... you need a block, pistons, heads, crank (turned) and rods (resized). you will need a new oil pump, timing chain and gears, cam and lifters...
you MIGHT *(highly doubt) be able to reuse the stock pushrods.
other than that, its as clear as gravy.

305 cranks lack the counter-weights that the 350 cranks have. If you run the 305 crank in a 350 you have to run light-weight pistons to make up for this or you will have a balance issue. It will increase the RPM the motor can turn (assuming you have a cam and heads to support this) but you cannot use a standard re-build kit piston with the 305 crank. I suggest selling your 305 to someone or just setting the whole thing in your basement/junk barn and finding a complete 350 to drop in.
