Rodeo 07-31-2002, 03:01 PM I’m getting my seats redone and thought this would be a good time to paint my rusty seat rails. Is there anyway to separate the driver side seat rails on a ’74 40 short of removing the rivets? I’m down to Special Tool Number 5 (bfh), but can’t seem to get them apart. I really don’t want to have to break out my torch, but it’s kinda getting personal. Thanks… Garyb2 08-01-2002, 08:59 AM I did mine with a grinder. I ground off the rivets and then redrilled them and bolted back together. This allowed the seats to slide back further. As far as I know removing the rivets is the only way to get them apart.
