You 2 guys have been identified as shit stirrers. Neither one of you currently own or have even put a deposite down on a Formula Toy. We tried to answer your questions as best as we can. Please go somewhere else and post your B.S. as you are taking away from the quality of information from this forum.

If you would like to talk about this more in private. Please PM me and I will give you my number.

I will incourage the rest of the BOD to ignore your posts going foreword unless you decide to add positive content to this forum other than constantly asking the same question over and over.

so until we buy into this "exclusive" club we can't ask questions? Do you guys allow girls in your clubhouse?

All kidding aside, we have the components to build an ftoy. We've been debating it for years and now things have changed and the time seems right. I want to know what the class's future is and how decisions are made and how things will be reviewed in the future.

If I build an ftoy - it will be for the long haul. I have a buggy, so I won't be using this class as a "beginers class". I would like to build something that I can compete in for 4-5 years without drastic changes but at the same time I would like a rig that is able to be modified to keep up with the changing times, technology and trends in the sport.

Maybe I'm wrong but I would think that these type of question are things that most people looking into the class would want to know. Maybe I don't understand the BOD's reasoning or motive behind some of the decisions they've made in the past and I'd like to understand. If you and the rest of the BOD choose to ignore us, that's fine it'd just be one more thing that I don't understand.

EDIT: Here's my phone number if anyone would like to call me - 314-402-7342
I'm going wheelin this weekend so reception might not be good. I'd be happy to talk to any of you about any of this. But have some respect and don't quote my number so I can pull it down later.

91blaze, I have read this forum actively for 1.5 years, and lurked on this forum for a year before that--before deciding to drop the coin and buy a chassis.

These questions have come up again and again---but not generally by people who are already into their chassis' and see the need for changes. They are more often by people who are interested in getting into the class, and want to tweak the rules to suit their 'druthers.

Please read EarlKann's post in the other thread--I think he said it best. If the rules keep changing, then all 95+ of the people (OK, probably only 30-40 are built comp-legal) who already have cars will have to change them to fit the ever-evolving rules. People who are already competing are already dropping a lot of coin on travel and fuel, not to mention maintenance and repairs--why would they want to dump even more into these cars, particularly when they're already competing at a high level, already playing on some pretty sick courses--and rolling off them, and already beating Stock Mod.

The sport may change, but we're already running rigs with 10+ year old technology (duals/hydro assist) on vehicles with 30-year old technology. If you really want to keep pace with changing technology, with all due respect, you belong in ProStock or Unlimited where you can have 3-year old technology--rear steer, cutting brakes, front dig, full hydro, rear engines, linked suspension, coilovers, etc. etc. etc. If you really, really, really want evolution, this probably isn't your class.

This is last statement is not what I'm after. I'm after the decision process for future things once I'm in the class. Please don't accuse me of trying to change your rules to fit my needs. I'm happy to comply with the rules but I just want to understand why one thing is ok and another not so that I can plan things out for an initial build and years to come.

As far as this not being the class for me - I have another vehicle. I have that other stuff and don't NEED it here but I want to know why you've chosen things over the years.

Like willymutt pointed out, it used to be carbs only and that changed. I'm just trying to stay on top of things and "predict" the class's future needs so that it's something that I can committ to doing for a few years.

I do understand that constantly changing rules require current competitors to constantly make changes - but I also know that those changes aren't always necessary and seat time is more valuable.

I'm one of the non class spec Ftoys but here's my take. Living in Farmington NM I've been around comp's since they started (Our club ran one in 1999)and I even ran comp's for our club for about three years. The thing that has driven my friends out of comp's is the fact that the rules changed every year! Some of the comp's were real bad about not posting rule changes until a few eeks before the first event and this just drove folks mad. So I think the Ftoy class is great as is you know what you are getting into and you know it will be the same next year. If it ain't broke don't fawking fix it.:shaking: my $.02 form someboy that will never be class legal:D:D

It wasn't directed at you, but it is probably the reason you've gotten the responses you have. People want to change things to suit their druthers, and frequent FToy abusers and the BOD are tiring of answering those questions. Maybe you've got a nobler purpose--but that doesn't keep people from tiring of answering the questions.

totally understand that

that's why I suggested put a sticky of some of those questions along with maybe each of the current BOD members responses and reasoning behind those decisions. Then they'd never be asked again, right?

If a person wants to question the reasoning of the BOD as a whole or an individual they can do so privately or in a seperate thread. I say question and it sounds bad but I really don't mean it as calling some one out just try to get further understanding as to why a decision is in the best interest for the class, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, a sticky's a pretty good idea--but like an FAQ--it just takes time for someone to collect all the info and put it in one place. If you've got that time, I'm sure everyone would appreciate the effort.

What Ive seen over the years, and seen decision wise.

The rules are not going to change. Minimal changes have been made over the years (efi, rear disks) Any further changes I would venture, and not going to be things that will change anything but single item parts. Say the 5th stud became legal for example, its one part, not changing the way the entire rig would be built. My guess again, but allowing efi was an early change, and probably the largest change this class will ever see.
