: what would you do?
Ericscummins 08-29-2008, 07:24 AM i need some help here guys. what would you do if you had $1000 to spend on your jeep? i might be selling a project of mine and i would have around a grand to spend on my tj. the jeep has a dana 44 rear and 30 front with 373s and lockrights, a rough country 4 in lift, quicker discos, rubicon express trac bars, 33x12s, front winch bumper and winch and some cheapo sliders. i also have a set of 35x16 boggers that i would love to see on the jeep! so i need your opinions on what to do next!
TealJ87 08-29-2008, 09:20 AM Take an angle grinder and get creative with the fenders...that should help clear those 35s. :D

Knuckelhead 08-29-2008, 12:20 PM OBA and a Belly-up...
jpfrk2001 08-29-2008, 12:25 PM A super short SYE and a rear CV shaft if you don't have it yet. New chain and 2 low shift kit while your in there. And if you can, scrounge up some more and do a tera-low 4:1 IF you need more gearing
The Black Sheep 08-29-2008, 12:25 PM You two have size issues if youi can't clear undersized 35" boggers with 4" of lift and TJ flares. I cleared them with about 2.5-3" on my YJ. Why take and angle grinder to the rig if its not neccesary?
To the OP, Do you have a roll cage? If not thats your next upgrade. Poly performance LA kit, Belly up skid, stak replace a case D300 with a 4:1 kit? You are gonna want deeper gearing with those tires and gears. :p
wranglerwilson 08-29-2008, 12:41 PM I find it hard to understand a person who has been wheeling and has to ask others where to spend money for improvements on his rig.
FF3PM 08-29-2008, 01:57 PM Alloy axles to keep that D30 happy.
RickyRetardo 08-29-2008, 02:45 PM Or to go in another route (since safety has been a real good topic lately), you could upgrade your cage, seats, and harnesses
rzmod 08-29-2008, 07:41 PM put a cage in it...
Cage or body armor... unless you like the character added by creases and big dents.
LucasFury 08-30-2008, 01:14 AM Damn, I could spend a grand on my CJ everyday for a month and still find more things to spend money on.
I'm real surprised no one has mentioned that you're gonna want much lower R&P gears to run 35's. ..Hell, I'd want more than 3.73 to run 33's, but if it works for you...
Cost and install will take the better chunk of a grand, easy. Use the rest to buy some cheapo steelies to hold the 35's so you can have two sets of skates!
Ericscummins 09-02-2008, 10:58 AM i forgot to mention that i have the tera lo 4:1 kit and 2 low with sye and d shaft. what about some diy tube fenders? does anyone have any to say about the ones on offroadutopia.com?
The Black Sheep 09-02-2008, 11:07 AM Does it have a cage??
If not forget the tube fenders.
Hammy 09-02-2008, 11:16 AM cage x2
Ericscummins 09-02-2008, 12:03 PM is there something wrong with the factory cage?
oldjeep 09-02-2008, 12:16 PM 35x16 boggers? Stock up on u-joints and axle shafts
The Black Sheep 09-02-2008, 12:22 PM is there something wrong with the factory cage?
Yeah its not enough protection first off. And second its not even technically a roll cage. Ever see what happens to the drivers area when you get into a roll over.
Protect your dome, do fenders later.
rzmod 09-04-2008, 02:11 PM is there something wrong with the factory cage?
only if u roll over...
dannyz14 09-04-2008, 07:53 PM cage, chromo shafts, and spare u joints is my vote
bigchief1919 09-04-2008, 07:59 PM X2 on the cage, but on a side note, i wouldnt spend a dime on the dana 30. id hunt for a dana 44, maybe from a rudi and regear the rear.
Aquaman 09-04-2008, 10:29 PM Cage!
