I would really like to see pics of a TJ with competition cut rear fenders with the factory wheel base. Trying to see if it looks funny or not, I want to cut mine but I'm not ready to stretch it yet. Thanks for your help.

I've seen a few pictures around here of what you're talking about, it looks pretty stupid. If I come across them I'll post up, but for the time being don't do it.

It looks like shit w/out the stretch. And I know that this is the non hardcore section so its pretty much flame free..but youve been told to search before so start doing that and you will find all kinds of things that you may need or want to see.

I search everything before I post a question I found a whole lot of competition cut TJs but all of them were stretched! I couldn't find a picture of one that wasn't.. So I figured I'd ask. Whats the deal you can't ask questions that you can't find an answer to on here? I thought that was the point!

The whole point of the cut is to make the stretch, why would you cut it if you have no need of the stretch? it gains you NOTHING! Unless you want alot of people wondering "what the hell was he thinking" and "boy that looks dumb", etc, etc, etc. If your plan is to make the cut for a future strctch, then WAIT till you can make the stretch.

Heres a good picture of the comp cut w/out the stretch and you can see it just looks goofy.

Comp cuts are short for competition cuts. They're cut that way due to stretching the wheelbase and needing to stuff a larger tire in the wheel well. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they came from the guys running comps that had stretched wheelbases and larger tires.

You should probably start with swapping in larger axles and a larger engine. Fucking around with a comp cut when you don't even have axles that can stand 35" tires isn't going to do you any good. Swap in 1 tons and then you can worry about the small stuff.

If you're not ready for that kind of stuff, at least wheel it. I think you're spending way too much time on the web and not enough in the drivers seat or behind a wrench. You WILL need bigger sticks and a bigger monster under the hood eventually. Better to start saving and collect parts. Do yourself a favor and look in the Ultimate TJ thread again. Get all your build ideas together, what you want to do, specifically, and then go wheel your TJ. Find out what's weak and what you want to improve. Get some sliders if you want to start with anything.

Its a YJ but you get the idea.I did it so I no longer had to worry about the sheet metal at the back of the Jeep.I found my self on more than one occasion almost smashing it so I just cut it all out.I drove it like that for a few years before I streched it .

Wow you think the poor guy has an ass left after you guys chewed it off. He just asked a question. Have you ever looked for something and couldn't find then asked someone you know would. I know I have. Goll dang if anything it was a compliment to the people on here. Goofy idea yes, but is it your jeep no. So who the hell cares. Did any of us set our selves apart by following everyone else? Nope. I am done, Sorry for the wine I will have some of that cheese though:flipoff2:

My TJ is cut right now without the stretch. It looks really bad. It's a retarded Jeep for now. When done, I will be at 104" wheel base. Then I can take the mask off.

I can see comp cutting them if the ultimate goal would be to stretch. Sort of getting things done in steps a little at a time. To do it without a stretch would look odd. If you're not going to eventually stretch it just get those corner crushers armor.

With the exception of guys doing actual competitions I fail to see all the need or want to comp cut a rig that's not a trailer rig with all the hi-line and hi-clearance tube fenders on the market these days.

Again....:shaking:

Yeah, because I've NEVER seen any non-comp rig have a comp-cut before :lmao:

I wasn't even directly speaking about or to you. :shaking: The point I was trying to make that flew way over your head was, guys do comp cuts to gain tire clearance and unless you are doing a large stretch that moves your rear axle back under the rear sheet metal of the Jeep, theres no point in doing a comp cut for clearance when you have tube fenders now that offer the same amount of clearance and you still maintain a vehicle that is functionally legal on the road and looks like it was put together by somebody who knows what they were doing.

Seriously man, wise up. And let go of my nuts.....
