I'm helping a friend put (yet) another tranny in his 99 burb. it's a 5.7L vortec. He got a tranny out of a 99 Pickup (new body style) with a 5.3L. It looks like we can change bellhousings easy enough, but I'm concerned about the input shaft. His old one has a longer piece on the end of the input shaft, that the new one doesn't. The only thing I could come up with is that it is for the lockup, and the new one is a non-lockup converter. Does he need a different converter, or will his old one work? Here are some pics.

Thanks

He will need a new converter. The one with the smaller shaft end is a late model 4l60e that needs a electric lockup converter.. If you are looking for the electic lockup converter, stop by your local trans place. I just bought the HD Ver. for 180$, from a local place called transmission doctor.
