My steering shaft had small pins in it. They were on the upper round portion the shaft where it flattens out. When I drilled them out they did not seem to be metal, may some type of plastic. This allowed me to slide the DD shaft out and put in a longer shaft when I moved my steering box forward. This was on a 80s cj. Must allow the shaft to colapse when hit hard in a collision.

I don't know what type of end you have on the steering shaft but you should use something to hold the shaft together. I have seen the frame/body twist so much that the steering coupler has come away from the box. Maybe the end you go with the psc kit has the set screws. Make sure you have enough shaft that it will not come out.
