ok, we all know that the road up Surprize is /and has been closed for YEARS !!!
ok, --- "what if"
how far up the canyon is the 'closed' area-----???
just closed at the gate ?--
closed for 1 mile ????--
is Panamint City 'closed' ?????--
what if you had a vehicle AT Panamint City--- could you drive around legaly ?? or drive down to the gate ????
Hey Krusty.
The BLM closure is of the road from Chris Wicht to the park boundary.
The park has closed Surprise Canyon Road to vehicles.
Now.
Got a helicopter and a motorcycle ?:flipoff2:
The park didnt close any tributary roads in the order, so technically you could drive those roads but you would still have to show up in court if you got caught, and it may be a tough sell to the judge. Also, to remain "technically" legal you would'nt be able to use Surprise Canyon Road for access to other roads in the area. You could either push your motorcycle or have the helo shuttle you around...

ok, the 'park' boundry is at the top of the ridge---
and the 'road' would be from the City down------
what if i were driveing around on the city streets ??????
got an idea--- let you know if it works out-- need a bit more reconnisance--
Park boundary hasnt been the ridge since 1994. It is now a few hundred yards down hill of Brewery Spring.

the boundry used to be at the top of the range-- then it moved to the bottom of the west side of the Panamints, then back up ----
but-
who is 'patrolling' the top of the Panamint range and how would anyone be 'on site' to issue a citation if one were deamed to be in order ??
as long as someone were on marked 'roads'-- where is the foul in that ??
just have an idea and working with a couple F-14's on a 'project'----- will keep you informed- (especally if it works out !!)
