Do you want to make money, casue I wanna wheel and not have to drive for 3 hours (Disney) I will go to Joplin every friggin weekend and gladly pay you or your buddy if you have something worth riding on, Ill also bring my dad,duane,rick,...................... you see were Im heading, you want money we wanna ride, lets do this

will I be able to roll my rig on something or is it just as flat as the rest of Kansas!
Hear are the details I have J & D Off-Road has leased a place called snowball. As for the drive there is a days worth of trails to do some new ones have been cut since Joey got the lease so no one has run them but the group that cut them. Anyway he is having a grand opening this weekend. You could call417-206-9106 and talk to Joey. He can let you know the cost as well as give dircections. I know there is a group from Texas making the drive so he has some big plans. There is a lot of trails some rocks and last time i was there they had a mud pit. Some of the hills are very steep with stair steps on them. Seen several vehicals roll when they had the wrong line. Give him a call hes a great guy to deal with

So thats why the place has been closed down. I used to ride 4-wheelers there and was bummed out when they closed it. I can't wait to check out some of the new trails in my truck.

It's Joplin, Missouri. Right where MO, KS, & OK meet (I-44 Southwest of Springfield, MO).

Yeah, it's not to far from Disney actually. I guess if it sucks, Disney is only an hout to an hour and a half away.

If anyone makes it out, post some pics and impressions. The Tulsa club has been looking for some new places to go. Besides, Disney's rocks get REAL hot during August. :)
Can the trails handle FULL SIZE trucks? ;)

Maybe Id actually get the chance to wheel with some local PBBers!!
superzuki 08-01-2002, 01:17 PM What's with all the rumors about Disney being closed. I heard 2 more guys talking about it last night. As far as I know just the area between the Powerlines and the dam is all that is closed. CORRECT?????
How much does Snowball cost and what are the hours, etc. I've rode quads and bikes there in years past.... it shoud be pretty fun and only 1 hour from the house..... :-)

YELLER BLAZER 08-01-2002, 01:35 PM Close enough to try out even if it sucks! I ready to go! Too bad the truck is scattered won't be ready much if any before Labor Day. Ya'll know how it is go change one little thing the next thing you know your replacing the frame, suspention and roll cage, but heh it'll be about a 1000 pounds lighter. Keep us posted
AGGIE_04 08-01-2002, 09:36 PM If Joey is building the trails then they will probably be killer. He did a lot of work to Jason Larman aka YellowCJ's Jeep, the guy who competed at Disney in the Trophy class. And Joey's Jeep is fully decked out with a fi 454, d-60's, etc, etc. From what Jason tells me though, he doesn't like the computer much, so it might be a while before you find info on the web. After seeing the work that he's done on Jason's Jeep, i would highly recommend J&D Offroad to anyone, he does great work. :D
Bones 08-02-2002, 03:35 AM I got a hold of an employee yesterday, and it's $10/day. Then they have weekend, monthly? and yearly options. He didn't have #'s for those yet though. He recommended to just pay for a day, then go from there.
inphobic 08-02-2002, 05:53 AM I talked to joe earlier in the week. He is leasing snowball to try to promote it better. The prices he quoted me were:
$20 a day
$35 a month
$250 a year
Also an easy payment plan $50 a year and $10 bucks a trip.
He said it was 250-300acres. Even though it is not much closer to Disney it is still someplace else to go and it is a little closer.

Not sure he knows what a computer is! He has built some well built rigs. Even his tractor linked bastard works well. Who's Red and white cow TJ-8 is that didn't he do the suspension with that as well.
Pdaddy 08-02-2002, 06:43 AM Directions yet? anyone from here goin down?
okcrawler 08-02-2002, 06:51 AM It does not sound like they are very well orgainzed yet... $10 to $20 a day....?
So are they going to be open this weekned. Is anyone going.??
I'd be tempted to go down next weekend, but we have a night run at Disney scheduled the 10th.... Which of course Yeller Blazer is supposed to be leading. I don't know how he plans to do that with Yeller scattered all over the place... :D
inphobic 08-02-2002, 07:10 AM That was the info I recieved directly from Joe.
What is steve doin to the blazer now?

If the back was not bad enough, he when and sold the front leafs this week. Now he's got the front pulled down (do'in coils) at the same time...
If the front stays the same, he'll be about 126". So, like I said before.... We need room for FULL SIZE trucks on the trails.. :)

The Scrangler is owned by Eric Altom I think. He was in the trophy class at Disney, too. I'm sure Joey did some work to it b/c the are pretty good friends from what I can tell.
JParuBob 08-02-2002, 09:39 PM The Scrangler is owned and built by John Loyd. And least if you're talking about a red and yellow YJ with a stainless steel rollcage...
I believe he also built that red and white cow TJ... He's a member of my club and was also at camp jeep...

JParuBob 08-03-2002, 10:12 AM btt for today
jbrooks86 08-03-2002, 02:51 PM Price List:
Trucks and Jeeps
$20/day
$35/month
$250/year
or $50/year with $10/day.
ATV's and Dirtbikes:
$20
$35/month
$175/year for 1 or
$250/year for 4
We have cut out a lot of new trails for all of you that have been there in the past.
With a yearly membership, you have a key to the place to go anytime you want.
All vehicles must be tagged and have current insurance.
We will be holding trail rides just about every weekend.
Four wheelers, Dirtbikes, Dune Buggies, and everyone else is also invited to come out.
300 acres doesn't sound very big, but this place is very dense with trails. There is a couple of creeks running through the place.
It is at the North end of Schifferdecker RD.
We hope to see a lot of people out there!
If you see a 78 Jeep J20 pickup with 38's and D60's say what's up.
We had a lot of fun out there this weekend. I didn't see any of you out there. Yes, we are trusting people with a key to not bring anyone else, but I imagine that Joey reserves the right to revoke a person's membership for crap like that. I think that people paying $250 a year will be serious enough to keep the place open. The only way for us to keep it open is to make Joey enough money to cover the expense of running it. Lease, insurance, time spent, Etc. J&D off-road members will be out there just about every weekend and even some weekdays. If you have questions on when we'll be there, or where you can send a check to call Joe Walker at 417-206-9106
JParuBob 08-04-2002, 12:41 PM i'm not sure if you've thought of this, but with giving people keys, make sure that one of their friends doesn't make a duplicate...

Bones 08-06-2002, 06:40 AM So did anyone go this past weekend?? What was it like, worth the trip, or is it better to just head to Disney? I see the prices went up from what the guy told me on the phone :D I'd like to get there in the next few weekends.
Pdaddy 08-06-2002, 07:11 AM Directions? anyone been there have directions, I was down by Joplin this weekend (went to Noll for a canoe trip) If this thing is goin to make any money it better get organized, damn another what 45min-hour and you can hit Disney, and its only like 15 bucks (I was fairly intoxicated when we paid that could be wrong) a day to wheel and camp!! We are planning a wheelin trip on the 24th of this week and Joplin has been mentioned, but no one knows were at in Joplin it is, and if its worth the effort, Get some pics, some directions, hook it up, make it easy for people to plan there trip!!! were goin to hit either Manhattan (again  ) or try Joplin, just need a little assurance its worth the trip!!!! You have any trail maps? First time I went to Manhattan We ran around all day tryin to find the "rock garden", never did, then found out it was like 50 feet from were we parked the trailer!!!
Pdaddy 08-06-2002, 07:13 AM If a bring a digi camera, take pics and pimp your spot, can I ride free(to include two rigs)? seems alot of people locally are talkin about Joplin, but noone outside of the locals know whats up!!!

LOL, same thing happened to us last month. I'm heading to Tuttle to meet up with some SD and NE folks this Sunday. Then I want to hit this Joplin deal before the month is over. I agree, give us a bone, and you'll get all sorts of folks from the KC area coming down. :D

BensonMN 08-06-2002, 08:28 AM Somebody needs to get out to this place and take some pics for the rest of us to see.
As to the "key" thing for yearly membership, a local group tried that years ago and it failed. Give out keys and the owner loses all control of the area. My two cents.
Where are those pics?

Long haul IMO. It takes me that long to get to Tellico. Would be worth the drive if this new park had some quality hardcore trails.
Bones 09-05-2002, 07:46 AM I hope I have the time to get there before the snow falls now. I thougt I'd make it there in Sept. for sure. Not gonna happen now. :D
As the webmaster for www.jdorv.com I just completed the site, it now has directions, fees, rules, pictures and even a satellite view of the park with some of the "obstacles" etc. mapped out. Going there today (09/07/02) to get some more pictures, there are a lot of 4x4's there already this am.
There are future plans for meets as soon as they get it established.
I've been going to Snowball for about 20 years 15 of them in my Suzuki LJ10 until they closed it down. Everybody around here is relieved that Joey has opened it up, very much worth the money.
CJ
BTW, Whats up jbrooks86? See you there...

Joey, are you planning on going to Tellico for Fall Crawl Oct 18-20? I know Ian is (almost certianly) going to go... and I'm trying VERY hard to get a set of crawler gears in and the bed bobbed before then... but I'm going no matter what.
I finally found a buddy with a Cummins who doesn't mind doing a little towing if he gets to ride along. :D
Go2Guy 09-07-2002, 07:41 PM My house to Memphis- 4.5-5 hrs, My house to Joplin park- 1-1.5 hrs. Throwout the amount you've got going out of the way to my house- 6hrs.
Rkcrawler- let me knowwhen you want to do it- I'll meet you there.
