Dont cut that cell.
There has got to be a better answer.
You will get more feedback when everyone is at work Tuesday.

Rick, I'm using the MSD one as well... Mopar has them. The one I got is a bit noisy but has been working fine. I think it was around $89 Its there universal high pressure pump.

ok i can wait a bit, but i head for the Con on sunday. i got a free metal fuel cell, si i had to cut it to make it smaller, already did that. but now the pump, so far, with reading other than here . i get mixed messages. is it what ever i prefer. cause of the work to do it?? i can do the welding myself, i have already cut my old tank apart, arround the sending unit and pump. now i just need to make a decision?do i just cut the cell open again and weld them in. looking for more feedback.. i guess my delema is... i have my factory pump. and i have another spare . so ......

there's some threads about external pumps in general4x4. Most are saying that an e8248 or something is a direct replacement for the e2000 and it flows more volume. I just switched mine over, they are the same price and I got autozone to price match advanced auto's online price of $99

I understand the in-tank pumps run a little cooler, because they're cooled by the surrounding fuel.

83-84 celica had an inline pump from the factory, running a 22re. We've got a new one in our ftoy, much quieter than pook's!

I was using the Celica inline fuel pump in the Marlin F-Toy. It failed so I bought a replacement from Auto Zone, it failed, I replaced, It failed. I ended up buying the MSD pump from Summit (the same one that bent toy has) and haven't had any problems.
The Celica pump has the factory metric hose connection, so you have to get a hose made up custom. Because of this, no other pump will bolt in.
The MSD pump looks exactly like the factory pump but it has hose clamp connections.

If I were to start from scratch, I would use the factory "in tank" pump and mount it so the pickup is in the center of the tank. As stated above, it runs cooler cause it is cooled by the fuel, and heat is what makes a fuel pump fail.
