Hi all, first time poster here. I'm writing this to see what types of engine swaps you folks have done with your Samurais and I hope I'm not the first knucklehead to try this with a 3.7 Magnum out of an 05 Ram. Does anyone know of a company that sells a universal motor mount kit for such a new engine configuration or one that won't require too much welding?

Here's the 3.7 and a bit of the old frame.

looks like fun! should b a good swap. there not as heavy as the 4.3 chev. yet it should be a good power plant. a bit heavy for my taste but i'll watch and see what you get when your done.

Ok, it's been awhile since the last post...Currently I have the 3.7 mounted to the frame thanks to the guys at Orangeman. My current issue is the exhaust manifolds. I snagged a set of Jeep Liberty manifolds but the darn things point right into the frame.

welcome to exhaust building. if you find yourself needing some mandrel bent curves, summitracing.com or jegs.com has 'em.
I had to fabricate whole headers and everything. i made 'em so i can get to all spark plugs and header bolts real easy, from under the fender.

Thanks for the custom header suggestion. I'm saving that as a last resort. I hope it doesn't come to that. I did manage to fire it up the other day. I almost blew the airbag in the donor column... I'm sure the neighbors would've loved that.

have you als tryed swaping sides with the manifolds so they dump up then you could take exhaust dawn and outside frame rails or do a top mount turbo as the dumps will be in the front

What are you doing for a wiring harness?

The wiring harness is from the donor dodge ram. I tried to label everything but still have a few mystery wires to sort out and its quite a mess up under the dash. I expected more issues swapping the wiring over but so far so good.... Well, considering it's Mopar.

It's neat to see this engine swapped in. I think it's the first I've seen done in a samurai. Are you using the Dodge tranny and t-case?

if you want a wiring diagram off of AllData, send me the info on the donor vehicle.

Easiest way i can see would be to notch the frame out where the exhaust can be hooked up to the manifolds - \____/ = like that. and use some 2x3 box steel to shape it and plate it back up or something

Or like mentioned above swap sides on the exhaust manifolds and have them pointing up. if they would bolt up correctly
