I attempted to do a tune up on my 96 Ram w/ 5.2 and could not for the life of me get the dist. cap off ,the small bolts are 7mm and they would not budge.I actually felt they were going to snap, and seeing how it was such a bitch to even get to the cap ,I could imagine that pulling the whole distributor would not be fun either .Any suggestions on what to do here would be appreciated. Is there enough room under the cowl to remove the distributor without lowering the engine ? What was Dodge thinking ?:shaking:

Ya thats a bad design, Try some PB blaster, or something like WD-40 on thoughs bolts, spray it on, let it sit for about 10-15 min and try the bolts again. I cant help you out much on pulling the whole distributer, cause my Ram has a 3" body lift and theres plenty of room now.

if you don't half to don't pull the dist, you will need to re time it then. Not sure if urs is the computer version or more manual version.

With mine you need a DRB to get it right.

The distributors are easy n00b. lol
As long as you mark the position of the distributor to the manifold and mark the location of the rotor you are good.

Rotating the distributor does nothing to the timing it just changes the fuel injection synchronization. You do need to set it with the DRB but as long as you make the marks you will be okay, the window for the sync is pretty big. :flipoff2:
