I'm in the process of building my own now I just cut off the splined section of the orig. arm ground it all down so it was round. Then I got a piece of 3/4 in stock drilled a hole in it and pressed the splined section in. It will all be welded. Just have to bend it and drill a hole in the end for a heim.
Or you could buy this pitman arm I have for a bronco that will fit that box for 20 bucks to your door. Wouldnt aht be easier and safer?
It is a partsmike dropped bronco arm. No longer needed.

"DAM THEY ALL LOOK LIKE TYSON"
YOU GOT IT ;)
i needed my toy arm 1" shorter. i just cut out an inch and then v notched it and preheated it with a torch and then welded it back together with my mig. just to be safe i added some flat bar stock gusseting. seems to holding up fine. i know of several people who have cut and welded theirs with no problem.

I say go for it if it is just a trail rig. If I had to drive it on the highway, I would not be able to get it out of my mind.
