: 90' Pathy - who's done coilovers?
mmm...beer 09-02-2008, 07:35 PM I am starting my project putting one tons under my 90 Pathfinder, sas with 44044's and aerostar coils in the rear was my initial plan, wondering if anyone has put coilovers in a pathy, looking to fit 40's. I have a 2 door so fender trimming isn't an issue.

What ???
roastbeef 09-04-2008, 03:02 AM the king did my 3link coilover setup. you will need to trim if you want it to flex at all. especially with 40's.
you would have to tilt them in towards the center of the truck unless you want to cut into your cargo area. and you would probably be limited to 12" travel shocks, depending on how much lift and uptravel you want.

The build is outlined here but i do have a new long arm 4-link that isn't pictured here.

I can see squeezing 40's on a 2dr. what are you doing for t-case gearing? Have you considered an atlas?
mmm...beer 09-04-2008, 07:41 PM that is a sweet build, just the info i was looking for, thanks.... what length were the coilovers in the all pro kit that you used? how much lift did it give you overall?
my plans are to swap in a 4.3 vortec, nv3500 (maybe 4500) and an atlas.... the only thing i don't have is the atlas, i considered a np231 with a 4:1 kit, but for the cost i think i'll go with the atlas 4.3:1.... i think i will run the same three link front suspension, rear will be a four link triangulated....
ROBBY 09-05-2008, 06:20 AM I have 38.5" SX's on mine with 16" travel air shocks. D60 front/14b rear. I have a '92 and I cut the fenderwells right to the rear doors and 3" out of the rear. I rewelded the inner wells to fit. I moved the rear axle back a few inches to clear the doors. I pushed the front axle ahead about 4" so it would clear the rear of front well. You won't clear on the front without pushng it ahead or running an ungodly amount of lift.
I have a 3 link front (w/panhard) and a triangulated 4 link rear with TX10-D300 doubler for the chev 60.

The coilovers are 12", I'm not sure exactly how much lift i have over stock but from the ground to the the torsion-bar crossmember is 22".
and unless you are honestly power hungry you may want to look at this before you swap in that motor and tranny.

roastbeef 09-05-2008, 09:29 AM theres no need for a gigantic motor in our rigs at our levels of rock crawling. its all about torque. my 3.3L puts out retarded amounts of torque with my low range kit... probably more than i need. gears, traction, and a disciplined foot on the throttle are more usefull than alot of power behind the skinny peddal. you break less shit too.
mmm...beer 09-05-2008, 11:01 PM honestly guys i know very little about pathfinders, i am/was a jeep guy.... fab work on pathy's is nil.... my plan was to build a cherokee, but the unibody scared me.... i am know a pathfinder guy and will learn everything on this build, the truck was bought after all the parts i had for the cherokee (engine, tranny, axles).... so this might be a stupid question, but if i keep the motor, what are the stock specs? what can these be modified for? chipped? i bought the truck with a blown tranny, is there a tranny to swap in that would work? i'm sure i will swap out the t-case.... axles i have built have 5.13's....
roastbeef 09-06-2008, 02:56 AM either get some calmini gears, or a/c gears (4x4parts.com) and thats about it. these nissan motors are bulletproof.
get a good filter, good exhaust, and maintain it and it will last forever.
welcome to the world of nissan, by the way. nissans are offroading's best kept secret. haha

Swap your 4.3 in, its way better than the turd 3.0 thats in the pathfinders. Dont spend a dime on getting stuff to go with the nissan tranny or engine, I did and it was a mistake. The 4.3 I have in my new rig is much much better.
I had 14" coil-overs on the front of my pathfinder, using radius arms.

roastbeef 09-15-2008, 01:12 AM i know a few guys who are running stock pathy motors and tcases with crawler gears and their rigs went anywhere. gears for the tcase are $1050. from 4x4parts.com.
the motor doesn't have tons of power, but its not a racecar. puts out pleanty of torque with the crawler gears. lasts forever.
if you want to spend the money on a vortec, its your call.
chankee 10-15-2008, 11:43 PM I like the way it's stretched. Will it only do good to the truck?I mean, no harm?
Anyways, I'm asking for cargo liners (http://www.car-stuff.com/cargoliner.htm) because my rear was hit by something last week, that's why I need to replace that piece. Can you help me in this one?

Any live axle that has the pumpkin on the side you have the t/c drive shaft exit. And the proper r/p numbers, of course.
good luck with your project
