I'm taking my "web-wheeling" ass up there, so, who's going, it's only a month away, Labor Day weekend. I'm looking to possibly piggyback on someone's campsite as the family probably will not be joining me this trip.

I ain't gonna hold his wittle pee-pee. I won't get there until the mid-late evening on Friday, just look for my Jeep and M416, I'll be camping on top of the trailer, a Jr tent fit's perfect on top, Richard can sleep under the trailer if he likes:D:D

I'll be there leading trails all weekend.. Either Level 1's in my daily driver, or possibly something else... :Cool2:

I'll be leading a trail ride also. Plan on camping with the family. Look for the red TJ with the stickers and the luxury campsite. My idea of roughing it has upscaled over the years.

Infantry, Like to see the 416, Don't know yet if we'll bring ours with tent, or the popup. I've thought of getting a small dome at wally world that will fit on the top for when we are traveling and sleeping at rest stops. The real tent is a 10X20 3 room (unless we take the popup which has a 15X8 tent on it).

There's nothing really special about it, I did a springover, the wife and I attempted a decent paint job, I put framing around the inside to put a lid on it that is flush with the top, but it does look pretty good from a distance:D:D

I need to get some bigger tires to fill in the wheel wells, stock jeep tires look tiny. I may see if I can scrounge up some NDT's with the original rims from around base here.

I was curious. I've seen some done really nice. I just got mine in May and have used it for 2 trips now. Barely had enough time to get it road worthy, haven't even really started on the paint yet. I did clean the bed up and get some new tires. I got the lights replaced and built a wooden top that fits flush. Plan to put a tailgate in and sandblast and paint it.

Here you go Doc, I now have the lunnette eye for the hitch, you can make out the framing around the inside, it was done with some scrap wood.

is the roundup of the rondevous(?). i thought the roundup went memorial day weekend. where is at and mounteagle or lookout and what are the dates on it. i'm about 2hrs away and i wouldn't mind showing up. about three years ago me and high5 went and and ended up on a trail ride that started at 9am and ended at 2am. wasn't a good expeirence but we had a good time. lot of rigs to check out also. :usa:

psf4x4, you better get a winch by then so they don't make you ride the bunny trials again.

i wonder if the kid with the cj7 with no hood and a pair of vice grips for a shift lever will be there. if so steer clear of his lineup!!!:D

I'll be there but no camping , just live 20 minutes away down in Winchester . If any of you guys wanna have a better time pick a level 4 or 5 ride into Cowan . I always ride in that area and the trails are lotsa fun , = carnage ! Mostly cab trucks and hella modified Jeeps . Look for a beat up blue early Bronco with a lorent sticker on the hood . c-ya :flipoff2:

They are 2 different events, put on by 2 different groups, and 2 different places.

We are talking about the one in Monteagle.

Well, I am back - I ran tech instepction from 10-1 Saturday, then bummed a ride down into the Cowan area from about 1:30 untill around 4:30. Less trucks & Jeeps than in the past, but it made for small trail groups and from what I heard - some GREAT riding. Weather today could not have been better either :)

I didn't get to meet anyone, but then again, I drove up this morning and most of you had already left for the morning by the time I got up there.

Most of you will not be back until Sunday night at the earliest, so be sure to post here with pics and stories :D

Just got back.. 8 hour drive home. We had the best time. The groups were averaging 8-9 vehicles. We had 5 with us.
Alvin took us to Brian's Creekbed, The Drill, Bald Spot, and did both sides of the Chutes on Sat. I broke a piece on the locking hub while climbing the left Chute. I fortunately had a spare, fixed it and went on. I am learning that the 35 spline warn premium hubs suck dick!!!
Anyway, Sunday we did Stagecoach from the New Cut past Brenda's Hill turned around and did it backwards. Funny, but usually we go only in one direction and end up making it out barely by dark..
I also heard that the Chatt. people only had 20 something people signed up..tee hee
I would like to thank MTTR for the best Monteagle ride so far for me..

Ricky - you would have seen me then... As you guys were on your way out for the day at the bottom (start) of Brian's Creekbed, I stopped and talked to Alvin while our group (White CJ5 on 38.5" boggers and white Scrambler on 38" TSL's) got out ahead of you guys to run up the Goat.

Glad you had a good time - although low turnout is not the best for the people trying to make money, EVERYONE I talked to was loving the small trail groups and GREAT weather we had :)

David,
I remember seeing y'all talking. I was at the back of the line. I certainly understand about wanting a larger turn out, but it seems to have a down side on each side of the fence. For me, the smaller groups were great..

Were you at the raffle???
Did you see all of the stuff that was just tossed out into the crowd?
The last events we attended (in Monteagle), the shirts, koosies, and hats would have been raffled off and used a filler in a "big raffle".

No junk raffled off here (underwear,a shirt, etc...), they gave away good stuff. Hell, I even won something, a 30% discount on a front bumper.I gave it to Infantry YJ, he needed it more than me.. That front winch bumper will look good on his jeep..

The Rosser and TOR people do things RIGHT !!!
Sam Lewis seems, just to want to see people having fun. I have never seen a keg (free) at an event before... Have you???

As I stated in a previous post reguarding another promoter, it is all about selling tickets, and making lots of money.
Not this group, its all about wanting, and making sure people have a good time.. Maybe the money isn't made today, but tomorrow and next year people WILL remember who does what...and will promote the good people and good events..

Wish I could have stayed for the raffle - sounds like it was a good one!

Thanks for the compliments! That was one of the best events that has ever been in Monteagle. The people, staff, weather, etc were great!

DRM - you should have stayed for the raffle Sunday night, it got a little wild, as usual!

Once again, we'd all like to say thanks for everyone who showed up, helped out with the event, and made it one of the best!

They got married in the Quarry. I don't think the Justice of the Peace could make it up LBI:D

We had a good time. Wait til you see my write up for the weekend, We ran into some "interesting" folks in Copp. Cove.

Vicky and Billy decided to copy us I guess ;) and get married at the Quarry. I think some of their "shuttle buses" broke down and couldn't make it up LBI so they opted for the Quarry.

Yep, it was an awesome time up there. I want to thank MTTR and TOR for and excellent weekend. As soon as we get the film developed we'll get some pics up.

I look forward to another TOR and MTTR event.

I was a passenger -so I had to go where I had a ride :p

We never made it to the bald spot actually - we came up from the quarry, stopped at the Chutes for a minute, then back down to the bottom of Brian's CreekBed to watch a few Scramblers trying to make it up.

You may have been in one of the groups that drove past me though... Who was your leader?

BTW - did anyone see the "Badger MRV"? I got to drive it - and although it had some thing I woudl change, the thing was AWESOME to drive :)

I was in the same group as RickyR.

Every evening, we would gather up at our tent site(if you missed my set up, you were blind), and drink a few before racking out. We had a few people come over, I guess everybody didn't realize that the beer was cold and free(my neighbor's dad works for Anheiser Busch, so I get my brews free).

I briefly remember seeing a small group of well built Jeeps following Alvin when I was talking to him at the bottom of Brian's Creek Bed... You got a pic you can post?

Was yours the small trailer with the tent on top in the field behind the  store?

InfantryYJ,

Saw your setup. I was at tech when you came thru. Didn't notice the trailer til you pulled thru, and wasn't sure it was you as I was expecting a YJ and not a TJ :) I wasn't around camp much, found a better spot to camp (new RV park, was quiter and cheaper).

I get the "YJ not a TJ" thing quite a bit, I had a YJ when I picked the name. At the tech inspection, they almost didn't let me go on the ride that I wanted because I only have 37's and the trail called for 38.5's or larger. The only reason I had wanted to go was because all the people that I knew there were on that particular ride, they succumbed and let me go:D I only had to winch 2-3 times that day. Another reason I had to pull the cable was because I drove the Jeep up there and needed to drive it back home, so my buddies wouldn't let me push it too hard.
