I got that POS out of my MJ tonight(stripped the top right bellhousing bolt(GAY)welding a 3/8 socket way up in there to get it out)anyways......After I take the pressure plate off do I keep that same flex plate? What about the Pilot bearing(REMOVE?)....I don't have the TCU so I'm gonna make my own manual electronic shift controller....can I get rid of the wires I don't need?...I believe I will only use power, sel 1, sel 2, and TQ lock....ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS TO HELP EASE THE WAY THROUGH THIS?

you need a flexplate that matches the management system on the engine. get rid of the pilot bearing. wiring it is easy sol 1 for first 1+2 for 2nd 2 for 3rd and both off for 4th. you need the linkage on the throttle body for the throttle valve cable. get a big hayden cooler too. and you need to be able to shift the manual valve so you probably need the whole shifter assembly out of an automatic.

If I can get the flexplate that came with the 4.0l the AW4 was bolted to....that would be okay? I think it might be from a 91 and my mj is an 89.

I was reading a different post and someone said the cps for the auto has two outputs...one that went the the tcu and the other that plugged in like all the others....well I don't have the auto cps and am I gonna need it? even though I am not gonna run a transmission computer? HELP...

you need a 87-90 flexplate because it is a pulse generator type sensor on your engine and the 91 uses a hall effect sensor the teeth that tell the computer where the engine is in it's rotation are different. you can get a front mount cps set up from hesco but that would be more expensive. I have a 96 transmission in my 90 xj every thing is the same except the flexplate.

2 output TPS not CPS.

If you are not going to run a trans computer you don't need the second (inverted) TPS output.

so the pickup on this 91 231 for the speedo looks to be electronic...can I get rid of that and just screw the one off the pugoet tranny and put it into the tcase...should be the same eh? Also the plug and wires off the front of the t-case....those must be for telling when your in 4 wheel drive? who needs that shit....

On the speedo, yes, you can just pull the cable speed drive from your old case and put it in the new case. Had to do that when I swaped cases in my kids comanche.

Plug and wires? If it's a 2 position connector then yes it's just the signal tata tells you when the case is in 4wd. Otherwise if it's a big 4 position plug they are the vac control lines for a front axle disconnect.

The one from the pugeot(no t-case)tranny is a cable I believe....the ones from the 91 t-case is electronic.

Its a connector that is electronic and its not the 4 vacuum line plug..i know what that is...it joins the wires from the speedo pickup.

Then you're going to need to go to the junkyard and pull the speedo connector from a 90 or older cherokee transfercase so you can use your cable.
