The Rubicon Rock Heads are putting together their annual 4x4 swap meet October 18-19 at Robb's Valley Resort in Crystal Basin Ca, as part of the event we have had r/c races with the cheap-o rigs you get at toy stores. This year we really wanted to run Some REAL R/C rigs and maybe get some hard core races going. Here is my question, Does anyone know who to talk to about getting some R/C Rigs up there, anyone know anyone who might be willing to run a race event, OR donate a used rig or two for the event OR for a raffle prize? I do not do the R/C thing ... yet, and have really no knowledge of the community. Please some insight... anyone?
Thanks Shannon Rubicon Rock Heads
Contact the guys at RCPCrawlers(.com). They are based in Cali, but I am unsure of their location in relation to yours. Might also want to join up on the RCC site and ask around if anyone is interested in some kind of exhibition.

Not to many of us rockrace, we are rock crawlers. Contact local shops in p-ville, sac, and roseville they could help put on crawl

x2 on RCP crawlers.com they are starting to get into the rock race thing. Ask for Brian and tell him some f-toy guy sent you his way.

Great thanks, The race is more of a crawl, but a competition just the same. After checking this stuff out I think Im gonna have to get myself one, question is do I get an Fj40 to match my rig or a buggy style... Huh something to think on. Thanks for the advice I hope someone can lend our fund raiser a hand to make it a good time to be had by all!

I met a guy who owns a hobby shop in Oakley. He has an indoor circle track which is pretty popular, but he sees a big demand for rock crawlers. He is building comp a comp course in the middle of the circle track for the crawlers.
I bet he'd love to come up to Robbs.
I bought a Losi from him. http://www.losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0222

Gold Country R/C just recently moved to its new location on Broadway behind Taco Bell in Placerville. The owner of that shop is into R/C rockcrawling. Also, some of the guys that work at True Value Hardware & Hobbies in Cameron Park are into R/C rockcrawling. Talk to them and they'll help you out.

I think it's Tamiya that has the Land Cruiser crawler, but I'd push to get the Axial AX10, that's what I run, and there are so many bodies that you can get for the 2.2/10th scale, or you can run some 8th scale bodies with modification, you can see pics of my Losi Grappler in 'Post Your Crawlers', which is a buggy look without all the custom brake line tubing work. Right now I'm working on a 1970 F100 body, bobbed and dovetailed rear, dovetailed front, and cut about an inch and a half out of the width of the body. I might even boatside if I can figure it out.
Sorry to get off subject.
