I am going to build my first frame, for my 47 Willy's. I have seen a lot of the build threads, and they have been a big help. I just wanted to make sure I get all the info I need before I start. It will be 2x4x3/16 box...The frame will be wide enough to not outboard the front axle. and will have leaf springs all the way around...and will be using all chevy 3/4 ton running gear. Any info will be helpful.........:smokin:

the grill mount is going to look funny having the frame rails out wider than the grill and inner fenders are

there is a killer Willy's jeep build here on one tons, try searching around, will give great inspiration, I believe frame was also built from scratch and also wheelbase stretched..

What info are you looking for? I'm doing the same to my '45 GPW. Although I'm keeping the frame stock width and using .120 wall 2" x 4" tubing. I'm going to stretch the frame and body 20" and shackle reversal as well. I'll put a build thread up when I start the thing if you want to wait till December.
Seriously though cut the fawking metal with a chop saw, gusset the two bends with .250 plate, add crossmembers where needed and weld it up. Was that the info you needed? Ruffstuff specialties has all the spring mounts to make it easier.

Ive thaugh about that, when I am done nothing is going to look stock. I also want to stretch the frame and hood. I want more room in the motor area.

You will have a much easier time than me getting the exhaust and steering all down in the frame by going the same width as your front axle perches. My buddies flatty's frame is built the same way you are describing, 2x4x0.25 wall, but he didnt care about having the body look like it belonged on that frame. The only original body on his is the cowl, hood and grill, everything from the dash back we had to build from scratch.
On my build I was going for a more "stock" look, but still be heavily modded. It caused a bunch of headaches, but once its done i hope it looks like everything "fits"
