Hello, I was wondering if my one ton axles and springs would fit on a half ton 70's blazer frame?Would there be room for a th400/203/205 in a late 70's blazer frame? Also would the steering work?

Spring spacing is all wrong, but you are in luck. The front 60 will actually bolt in to the rear perches, and you'll have rear steer, then you can push the motor forward for more clearance, and it will work fine. You'll have to run a really long Drag link, but you can still run your 4wd box. Rest is easy. Bolt the 14 up front and get a big rear view mirror. Anything else just ask. We're here to help.

Besides this solves a whole lot of problems, everyone wants re-steer, and front shafts always brake first, now you can have 14ff shafts up front too.

1973-1992 Blazers frames are all the same., with the only variations being in Sheetmetal and running gear, however, they are interchangeable back and forth.DUMBFAWK
For example, My 1981 which I built with my 4 kids, and didn't have to ask dipshit questions to build.
Military Cucv Blazers came with 60/14 and a th400/np205 from the factory.

#1 ) I dont care what your IQ is, You have already shown an inability to use the search function. Why do all the over-educated and under-experianced diaper wearing kids think that they are owed an answer to their 2nd grade questions?

#2 ) I am very impressed that you wanted to be a Tech but didnt have the chops to make it. Some things have to be earned, one of those things is respect. Did you ever wonder why they gave you a hard time? Do you think it could have been your Im smarter than you attitude?

#3 ) If you are looking to build a rockcrawler then you came to the right place, but asked the wrong question.

Just like my old man always said... "Ask a stupid question, Expect a stupid Answer"

On a side note, I think you would be suprised to find out there are alot of pirate guys whos test scores would make you look like a retard. I guess there is no reason to post up scores and backgrounds, you have already made yourself out to be a fucktard so whats the point of rubbing it in.

To answer your questions and save your ass from more flamin.

Yes you can bolt in a Chevy 60 front, the dodges will work but are a little wider. You will need the u-bolt top plates for the 60 you are using.Other than the correct u-bolts that is all you'll need.

Steering will work but dependin on your amount of lift you will probably need some form of correction (steering block, drop pitman arm,new draglink or all of the above)

14 bolt rear will bolt in (again) you will the the U-bolt plates for the axle and a new set of U-bolts.

The doubler will fit in the frame no problem, but the longer the trans/case combo is the shorter the rear shaft will be and you might run into d-shaft angle trouble.

Unless your plannin on haulin a lot of weight I dont see any real reason to use the ton springs.

People around here (not just the Chevy section) get real pissy about repetitious questions. There is a newbie tech section that will be a little more "friendly" for what most consider dumb questions.Tellin everybody how smart you are will only get ya grief around here.

Advise for further inquiries would be to buy a red star and use the search feature on this board.

Rear driveshaft can be solved by turning the pinion, my doublers longer and the shaft has room,
The 14ff is a bolt in as long as you get a 3/4 ton 14 bolt, the 1 ton 14 bolt has a narrower perch width and requires moving the perches or moving hangers.

I'll tell ya bro, I'm doing the same swap right now and its with trembling hand that i ask a question in this place. There is a lot of searching to be done. Try going over to coloradok5. The guys are way nicer over there but not near as knowledgeable about the technical stuff.

If you are going to post, make sure to include a statement like

"I searched all over but I can't find..."
or
"I know this has been covered but my situation in unique because I've got the only truck in the world with 3/4 elliptical suspension from the factory" or something like that.

The guys flaming you seems to be more of a "jumping in" and your reaction was pretty bad. I would suggest recognizing your mistake and going even further with their flames. Flame yourself a little and everyone will lighten up a little.

Most of all USE THE SEARCH OPTION!!!

I hate to drop a bomb here....

3 years in college and you dont have the intuition to break out a tape measure and do some work?

3 years in college and you cant figure out how to utilize the search function on this website?

You say you have an iq of 137. Its not just enough to be intelligent. Intelligence will not provide you with the common sense required to work as a mechanic. Its obvious that your book learning was focused on books and not on actual practice. This part of the board is meant for people that have a basic working knowledge of the GM vehicle. If you do not possess that knowledge, please remove yourself to the Newbie section until you can provide enough confidence in using the "search" function, and a thick enough skin to accept the criticism that comes with this side of the house.

We arent here to baby sit you. You should know the basics before you start here. If you had read the stickies posted at the top of the Chevy Tech page, as instructed, you would not be receiving as much grief as you are currently getting.

If I can make it clearer, I would be happy to draw you a picture of what things you need to have to enlighten yourself so as to remove future embarrassment.

My suggestion is to be humble, remember that the people on here whom you would most like to answer your questions know more about building rockcrawlers than you or I ever will.

One of the ways that you will show respect to those that you would like to answer your question is by searching. Most likely you will not be asking a question that has never been asked. The guys you want answering your question have most likely answered it before.

Also provide enough information to answer your question. If you want detail in your answer then provide it in your question.

besides all that Apology accepted, Just check the attitude at the door.

Willysman23, you may find that sometimes you get more specific info if you PM some of us than if you post in a general thread. I generally respond well to PMs, as it shows that you have thought the question through and that you have a clue as to what youre looking for.

youre on the right track so far...

I've got to say, that's the first real apology I've seen in a long time.
Don't take me chucking shit the wrong way, as has been said, it just gets tiring seeing the same bullshit questions every day. I just spent an our or two searching for some info tonight, on some pretty obscure subjects, and found it in the archives. Most questions have been answered, and pretty much all "noob" questions guaranteed.

Good luck on the truck, and as Grump said, I get PMs about shit too, and am more likely to answer those politely, because the same crap the noobs ask, pop up when I'M searching for stuff myself.

With an adjustable metric wrench, duuuh. :flipoff2:

You're doing much better now. And yeah, you can put one tons in a Blazer.

1. the steering link will bolt up.
2. the rear spring perches will need to be moved if you are using an actual 1-ton 14bolt. If you're using one out of a 3/4t, you don't need to do that.
3. combo joints if you're not getting new driveshafts.
4. if you're using discs, you'll need hoses and all that. Ask more if you need to. :D

All right guys,I admit that post was a little silly.I was wrong to post it there and deserved some kidding around flaming, but that much?Come on.I would help any one of you guys out on the trail if your rig was in need of resue, but I also demand a little respect regardless of how dumb the question was.We all have asked dumb questions before.I don't really think I am smarter than you guys, thats why I asked the question because I know you guys know chevys .Now if you guys ever needed a question answered about jeeps, just email me.I would be glad to help.I just wanted a question answered and didn't want all of this, really.Actually, my old job I really liked, except for the hours, which my boss wouldn't work with me on my hours.I am not saying a poorly-educated person can't be a good mechanic,I have worked with them, and they were good guys. Yes I do have many books and manuals covering engines, transmissions and other assemblies.Thats how you find bearing clearances, torque specs, and lots of other valuable info. The day of the shade- tree mechanic is over, and I am a shade tree mechanic,so all I work on is my own stuff. You guys just need to lighten up on us newbies, cause someday, you might be in need and one of these people you told to ''lick your ballsack'' might be the only person around to help.

see, here is what you dont or didnt get, everyone here will help anybody here if they show a little effort for the info. its not just noobs or that chevy guys are assholes, its the lack of effort and expectation/demand of respect when none has been given.

if i moved in next door to you walk into your house put up my feet and tell you to make me a sammich, without introducing myself, asking if i can come over, or if you even have sammich materials, wtf would you do?

a very simple search could have kept this thread to 5-10 posts tops. instead you started waveing your e-penis and iq score around like anybody would give a shit. if you had searched and hadnt found what you were looking for the next best thing to stop all of this would have been "hey guys, i searched and couldnt find xxx" that would have show that you at least tried.

the fact that you say

you might be in need and one of these people you told to ''lick your ballsack'' might be the only person around to help
shows exactly what kind dickhead you are or will be.

everybody here knows the score, if you truely need help it will be given, if you want help because you are to lazy to do it yourself you can go do something to yourself that i previously discribed to you.

I beg to differ...just because a guy's nice doesn't mean he's a dumbshit. There's a lot of guys over there that really know their shit...except for Howidy

I don't think they are dumbshits over there. here's the deal. If I want to post a really simple question and know I'm going to get lots of really nice responses, I go to CK5. If I have some hair brain idea about how to mod my burban for some extreme situation that will require lots of technical savvy, I come here. That's all.

Make no mistake about it. I'M THE DUMBSHIT when it comes to mechanics.

I did not say TIGHTEN your muffler bearings I said CHANGE your muffler bearings. AND duh you use a wood welder and a snubbler tool, IM just kidding, FYI there was no wrangler made in 1996, so those axles would not work out for you. TRY to laugh some times, some of that shit was funny. good luck on you truck, and see you did end up with the answers you needed.

Hey Willy. I've got a set of 1 tons from a CUCV I'm looking to unload. $1500 if you are in the neighborhood. They have 4.56 gears and a detroit in the rear end.
