How come no one packs out there cigaret buts. Some friends and I hiked up to the little sluice last weekend and we couldent belive the amount of cigarret butts that were covering the granite, shouldent these be packed out to. The place was covered in these things:mad:. All we could smell was cigarrets and gear oil. Its time people started using there head a little more. Once winter comes and goes and all the snow melts away again all this junk will be washed into our lakes and streams.
OK rant off, lets just consider maybe sweeping some of this stuff up into a garbage bag next time some body goes up there

Don't say no one, but yes a majority of people just throw on the ground, and that's that.
I make sure that I do, I usually have sealable sports type bottle that the butts go into. If not, I make sure the butts are out then stick them in my pocket until I can dispose of them.
Like drinking, if your going to do it make sure you dispose of it.

I try to point out to people that although they are small, they are made of man-made polyester which takes many, many years to biodegrade. Smokers need to pick up their butts and oil must be cleaned up when it is spilled.

I spent some time at LS acouple of weeks ago. I started to drive around 2 years ago because I am more into the get away from it all thing. I was DISGUSTED by the butts and trash. The attitude of some of the people in this area shows like High School punks. We camped at Spider and the smell of Shit was bad. I will go to Buck from now on. I picked up many butts and put them in a water bottle I found. If half of the people that spent more than 10 minutes at LS did this, there would BE NO BUTTS. The other half needs to learn to use a damn ash tray. Right now there are Fire Restrictions. So I expect that the first half will clean up and by winter they should all be gone.;)

I was up there also the same weekend and little sluice was DISGUSTING. You could literally smell ls before you got into it. And yes there were like 1,000 cig butts in/on/and around ls. Not to mention that EVERY campfire pit had food, hamburger wrappers, beer, soda, and food cans in them. I also found 2 doz eggs dumped by a rock. Only a few broken so somebody intentionally dropped them off there. People wonder why bears are an issue up there.
Disgusting irresponsible pigs create the problems and we have to deal with them.
