What spring rates are you guys running. My truck is a 97 4cyl. excab with a winch. I'm using 16" Fox coilovers. I need to order the springs and could use a ballpark.

Thanks
Chris

Anyone know the approximate weight difference between a 4 & 6?

I originally started with 250/300, but it seemed a little stiff on the small hits or bumps. I am now running 200/300 and it feels better, but my valving needs adjusting.

That's about what I was thinking. I could probably get away with slightly softer springs since the rear has 63" dookies and they are so stiff.

I'm running 200 over 250 and it's just a tad to soft............. I think 200 over 300 would work perfect.

I'll give Poly a call tomorrow and order 200/300. If it sucks, oh well... better than leafs :flipoff2:!

I didn't see the ones I would need, so I just went ahead and ordered them.

i first got 250/300 and that was way too stiff, so i replaced the uppers for 90 and is too soft so im going 175 now.
what about length of springs? mines are 14 and 16".

Length depends on your weight, spring rate, and what you want your ride height to be.

You can figure out your sprung weight by how much your previous springs compressed. You already chose your new spring rate, so then you use those two to figure out how much the new springs will compress. Then you take that number and figure out what length springs will fit on your shocks in the range of your adjusters and leave you at the ride height you want.

In most cases for a crawler running more droop than compression, a 14 and a 16 on a 16" shock will work. I'm running a 12 and a 14 on a 14 (similar) with about 6" of shaft showing at ride height.

ive got 14 and 16'' springs with a tender spring on the rear(16'' shocks)
on the front ive got 2 sets of 14'' springs and no tender springs(14'' shocks)

i have 5-6'' of shaft like erik...:rainbow::laughing:

I got a 14 and 16 with a tender on top. I haven't had a chance to put them on yet, too much other shit holding that up. I'm pretty sure they will work, worst case they are still better than leafs.

its kindof a PITA to put the tender springs on you have to depressurize the shock and remove the shader valve/resevoir...i went to poly perf and he put them on for me and showed my son and i how to rebuild the shocks at the same time(full tear down)...good people

ive got 250/350 on king 2.5s with a tender. very stable on the road, and rides smoother than stock.

your running 16's right? How long are your springs?

i can't decide weather i should get 250/350 in 12' and 14" like eric or try 225/350 both 14"

for 14" coilovers on a v6 2nd gen runner

16s, no idea on valving, but it seems to work good.

Preload on the springs, how much is your adjuster tightenened past contact w/ the spring. Valving has NOTHING to do w/ride hieght
