So im trying to use my stock nissan rear H233B while doing my sas. I have 5.14 gears to match the 5.13 all be using in the D44 waggy axle. My question is where do i find new bearings, pinion seal, etc...(master install kit) for a H233B. 4x4parts.com says they can sell me one for $335.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No thanks, the last time i had my rear open i put a detroit locker in and did not change anything. This time id like to do it the right way since im putting new gears in but damn!!!! Thats alot of money for a install kit.

Any ideas on where to get one???

Thanks

There's no such thing as a master install kit for an H233B unless you piece one together yourself.

The bearings generally don't need to be replaced unless there's something wrong with them. There are no shims. There's really only a seal or two to worry about. You can get them all from the dealer or most parts stores.

BTW, I bet you'd pay a whole lot more the $355 if you were to source all those parts from the dealer yourself.

There ARE shims in the pinion.
The carrier bearings are 135 for 2
the Pinion bearings are around 100
the seal is about 18

I used some D44 shims that i had to set the pinion pre-load (or where they 9" shims? don't remember.. just that they were the right size)

If you going to put in new gears definately put new bearings in them. why Half ass it?

I recently refused to put in a set of old bearings on a new gear set. They were frosted and i just couldn't do it.

I'm going to side with bgaidan on the carrier bearings at least. Pinion bearings are another story. I have worked on enough axles to see that properly set up carrier bearings wear extremely slow and will likely last hundreds of thousands of miles. Preload is your friend.

Now toasted bearings are another story, those certainly go in the trash.

Cant say how many times I have said this, open your phone book to the yellow pages under bearings and start calling shops with the numbers off of your old bearings. They will give you the same name brand bearings to do the entire axle for about $60, that price also got them on my door the next day. While you are at it buy a roll of shim stock and your set. Going to the dealer or AC is a stupid move, AC will send you the wrong parts, the dealer wants $150 for pinion bearings.

Pretty dam sure you don't need shims and won't need new bearings. What you will need is a new crush sleave 3rd member axles are very different then dana style axles. The cost of re-gearing a nissan axle is ridiculous when a ford 9 is not only an upgrade, but also so much cheaper. Many of us have tossed the nissan axles out but it can be done and there are people on here who use the nissan rear...
