The input shaft seal of the ps box on my 77 C10 desert racer is leaking bad. Is the seal available separately? I can't find a seal or a rebuild kit at the chain parts stores.

Seal kits are available, and the last one I bought was at a chain parts store.

The individual seals may be available, but when I asked about the specific one I needed the counter guy told me that the only way they stocked the part I wanted was in the whole kit (I was actually a bit surprised they even had a kit). The kit was something like $30 so even if you have to buy the whole thing to get the part you want it isn't too bad.

uh, here's the Napa page for power steering stuff.. for an '85 k20 w/350. :D

http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&CatId=7&SubCatId=5

note that input seals are available seperately. (page 2)

Seriously though, searching is not that hard with this modern tool called The Innerweb. It's awesome. :flipoff2:

I rebuilt my box and tapped it for hydro assist.
Used this guide. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=570869
Good luck:D

Well.... there is always the off chance the leak is comming from the pump and down the line and looking like the steering box.... or someting....

Ok, I can't read.

Thanks everyone. Pump shaft seals are easy to find, but I finally found an input shaft seal kit at autozone, Duralast part 7095.
